McLeod Co/Temporary Closure of Motor Vehicle Transactions 17 Jul 17

McLeod County Auditor-Treasurer, Cindy Schultz Ford is letting residents of McLeod County know the State of Minnesota is replacing the computer system that handles license tabs, license plates, title transfers and title applications, and this will affect the services offered at the McLeod County License Center July 20-24, 2017 during the upgrade.

Ford said the License Center will remain open during this time and will continue to provide all other services, including ATV, boat and snowmobile registrations, driver’s license, marriage license, Game & Fish license, and birth and death certificates.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and Driver and Vehicle Services division (DPS-DVS) is replacing the system used for motor vehicle and driver’s license transaction and record information. The motor vehicle portion of the Minnesota Licensing and Registration System (MNLARS) will be implemented during this time, replacing the current 30-year-old mainframe computer system. The new system will greatly reduce turnaround time for title transactions from weeks to a matter of days.

The McLeod County License Center will be back open for business as usual on Tuesday, July 25 at 8:00 a.m. Residents may call 320-864-1312 or email with any questions.
