Meeker County Organizations Get Grant for Heritage Sites 19 Jul 17

Organizations of Meeker County have received a Minnesota Historical Society partnership grant.

The Meeker County Historic Society and Dassel Area Historical Society along Meeker County Economic Development are the recipients of the grant, which has been financed, in part, with funds provided by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.

Officials say the purpose of the grant is to form a partnership to assess heritage tourism sites, activities, and events in Meeker County and develop a strategic plan to coordinate, promote, and improve access to the sites and activities.
Daniel J. Hoisington dba/Hoisington Preservation Consultants has been selected to do the planning study.

This project will assess Meeker County historic resources and develop a strategic plan to improve access to them.

The process will include networking with Meeker County organizations and public input over the next several months.
David Krueger, Executive Director of Meeker County Economic Development, says “This is a huge step forward for Meeker County and the future of preserving our history as well as finding ways to share with others in tourism and education. ”
