Watkins man sentenced to 18 years in prison 25 Jul 17

LITCHFIELD — A 22-year-old Watkins man was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting two young children. The West Central Tribune reports that Thomas Lee Voigt Jr. had been charged with six felony counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. As part of an earlier plea agreement, Voigt pleaded guilty to two charges and four others were dismissed.

Judge Stephanie Beckman sentenced Voigt to 216 months in prison for one charge and 144 months in prison for another.

Both sentences will be served concurrently. Once he is released from prison, Voigt will be on conditional release for 10 years.

The incidents happened from July 2015 to December 2015 when Voigt. sexually abused children who were 8 and 5 years old at the time.

According to the complaint filed against him, Voigt forced the two children to have oral sex on at least nine occasions.

The assaults occurred in the woods near Cambridge, Isanti, and at homes in Eden Valley and Watkins.
