Most Pass Renville County Compliance Checks 14 Aug 17

Renville County, MN – Recent results from alcohol compliance checks conducted in Renville County show that 86 percent of alcohol retailers refused a sale to someone under the age of 21.

Out of 21 checks completed, 18 retailers passed, meaning18 businesses refused to sell alcohol to persons under the age of 21. 

Working with plainclothes and uniformed officers, underage persons entered businesses and attempted to illegally purchase alcoholic beverages in both on-sale and off-sale settings. 

The businesses that failed the compliance checks were Casey’s General Store in Fairfax, The Buffalo Lake Municipal Liquor Store, and the Main Street Bar and Grill in Renville.

The Sheriff’s Office began conducting compliance checks in 2009. Since then several rounds of checks have been completed with success rates starting at 50% during the first rounds of checks to 100% success rate in 2014.
