Dog Shot After Charging Deputies 30 Aug 17

LAKE LILLIAN – A dog that charged at Kandiyohi County deputies was shot and wounded in an incident Tuesday morning in Lake Lillian.

According to Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog, law enforcement received a call at 11:54 a.m. of a dog, described as a pit bull, running loose.

The West Central Tribune reports the dog chased a person into a business by the post office, located on Lakeview Street, which is the town’s main street.

According to Hartog, once deputies arrived at the post office they exited from their squad car and “within a few seconds” the dog charged at the deputies.

One of the deputies pulled his firearm and shot the dog one time and the dog retreated.

After being contacted, the owner of the dog brought the animal to a local veterinarian.

Hartog says the medical condition of the dog is unknown.
