Fire Destroys Food Garage in Lake Lillian 12 Sep 17

LAKE LILLIAN — A fire destroyed the Food Garage restaurant in Lake Lillian during the very early hours of Monday morning.

No one was in the building at the time and no injuries were reported.

The West Central Tribune reports the state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Lake Lillian Fire Chief Ross Wittman said when the Lake Lillian department arrived, around 3:11 a.m. Monday, the building was smoking. However, by the time several other departments were called to assist, the Food Garage was burning.

Fire departments from Lake Lillian, Atwater, Raymond, Prinsburg, Cosmos, Blomkest, Willmar, Kandiyohi and Bird Island responded Monday morning.

Firefighters dealt with hot spots throughout the day.

The buildings on either side of the Food Garage escaped major damage.
