Update: Man Arrested in Death of Shakopee Woman IDed 07 Nov 17

Shakopee police have identified the man they believe killed his girlfriend Monday morning before a brief standoff with police officers.

KSTP reports the department says he is 31-year-old Sergey Nikolaevich Balandin of Shakopee.

He was booked into Scott County Jail Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder, and was listed on the jail roster this morning (Tuesday).

Police there say they believe Balandin and the 34-year-old victim, found dead in a residence on the 1400 block of Savanna Drive Monday morning, were in a domestic relationship.

Balandin was caught hiding in bushes near the Shakopee Hampton Inn shortly after the incident and following a brief standoff with officers.

The victim’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office pending notification of family. Balandin has not yet been officially charged.
