Hutchinson Rejects Resolution Supporting Welcoming and Inclusive Community 13 Dec 17

Before a packed council chamber Tuesday night, the Hutchinson City Council rejected a resolution aimed at supporting the city as a welcoming and inclusive community.

The resolution failed on a 3-2 vote, with Mayor Gary Forcier and Councilors Mary Christensen and Chad Czmowski voting against adopting the resolution.

Councilor John Lofdahl, who brought the resolution before the council, as well as Councilor Steve Cook voted in favor of adopting the resolution.

Those supporting the resolution mostly felt that it was a reaffirmation that Hutchinson is a welcoming community. Those opposing the resolution mostly felt is was not necessary or needed.

The majority of Hutchinson residents in attendance agreed that it was not necessary.
