Newman Expects “New Look” at Troubled Vehicle Registration System 29 Dec 17

(Learfield News Service/St. Paul, MN) A key Republican lawmaker sends best wishes to Minnesota I-T Commissioner Thomas Baden who has health problems, but adds the bright side of Baden’s pending retirement is a chance for a “new look” at the state’s troubled vehicle registration system.

State Sen Newman

Republican State Senator Scott Newman of Hutchinson says there will be polite but difficult questions for whomever Governor Mark Dayton appoints as a successor.  Among them: “When is MNLARS gonna be fully functional? What is the ultimate price tag going to be? And will it be able to integrate fully with the REAL ID drivers licenses?”

Baden assured lawmakers earlier this month that the REAL ID interface is “gonna work” but Newman questions that, given promises about the MNLARS system which have not been kept.
