Vehicle Goes Through Ice on Lake Washington 12 Jan 18

On Thursday evening, just before 7:30, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle through the ice on Lake Washington, Darwin Township.

A Sheriff’s Deputy found two people walking near the shore off of 233rd Street, in Darwin Township.

Authorities say a Ford Ranger driven by 25-year-old Alexander Madsen of Litchfield broke through the ice. Madsen and his passenger, 26-year-old Thomas Wold of rural Darwin, were able to get out of the vehicle and water and walk to shore for help. Madsen and Wold were treated on scene by Gold Cross Ambulance.

The vehicle fully submerged in the lake and attempts to locate the site were unsuccessful.

Thin ice signs were posted at the public water access locations and the Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to use caution on Lake Washington.
