Boom/Bust in Willmar 31 Jan 18

(KWLM/Willmar, MN)  The loud boom people in Willmar heard last (Tuesday) night was the Minneapolis Bomb Squad blowing up explosive devises found at a rural Willmar home.  

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department, at 3:45 p.m., agents of the CEE-VI (c-6) Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at a home in the 1500 block of 45th Avenue SE, which is about a mile south of Willmar and just east of Highway 71.  

Assisting in the search warrant were members of the Kandiyohi County and Willmar Police Department SWAT teams and the Minnesota BCA.  

During the search, several firearms, a large amount of ammo and explosive devices were found, along with marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphenalia.  

Five people were arrested…two Willmar men, ages 46 and 41 and a 45-year-old Lake Lillian man, and two women, one aged 27 from Willmar and a 37-year-old from Litchfield.  

The Minneapolis Bomb Squad was called-in to deal with the explosive devices.   They took them to a controlled area away from the residence and detonated them at 8:45 p.m.  

The blast could be felt and heard in nearly every part of Willmar. 

The case is still under investigation.
