BOLD Responds to Alleged Gun Threat 22 Feb 18

(West Central Tribune/Olivia, MN) — The BOLD School District notified district residents, students, and staff that there was no threat to safety despite stories circulating that someone intended to bring a gun to school Tuesday.

The West Central Tribune reports the district sent a recorded phone message Wednesday from Superintendent John Dotson to parents of students, informing them that students and staff were not in danger, and that the school has hired an attorney to investigate the matter.

Dotson said in the recorded message that the school was informed of an alleged comment Tuesday “regarding bringing a gun to school” and investigated the matter along with the Olivia Police Department.

In reference to stories circulating about the allegation, the superintendent also cautioned: “Please remember all that you read on social media is not necessarily true.”
