New Ulm PD Invite Public to Body Camera Meeting 26 Feb 18

(KEYC/New Ulm, MN) – The New Ulm Police Department will hold a public information meeting tonight (Monday) on body camera use and its possible effects on the community.

The department has asked that residents attend and share their thoughts on the matter.

Commander Dave Borchert said the department is striving to find a healthy balance between privacy and transparency through use of the cameras.

He added that there are scenarios that may develop, and the community may want to discuss how certain situations should be handled.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the New Ulm City Council Chambers.

Borchert said if everything goes smoothly, he would like to see the full installment of body cameras by early fall.
