KDUZ/KARP/KGLB names All Area Girls BB Team 17 Mar 18

We are pleased to announce this year’s All Area Girls Basketball team.  Players are nominated for the team by their coaches, and then voted on by a panel of Sportscasters at the stations.  Here are this year’s Honorees:

All Area Girls Basketball 2018

 

Gabby Hahn, Hutchinson, F, Senior: All Conf, 8.3 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, only person in Hutch History to finish with more than 600 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 100 career assists

 

Kenzie Rensch, Hutchinson, G, Senior: All Conf, Miss Basketball Nominee, All State, 17.3 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3.7 steals, Top Defensive player in Hutch history, Schools all time leader in Steals and Assists, and a 1000 point career scorer.

 

Monika Czinano, WM, F, Senior: 3x All Conf, All Star Selection, Nominated to Mcdonald’s All American Team, Miss Basketball Nominee, 22.8 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, major part of three conference championship teams, averaged a double double the last two years, Captain, 1643 career points.

 

Sara Kottke, BLHS, G/F, Sophomore: Team MVP, 15.7 points, 13.6 rebounds, 36% shooting, 21 double doubles, Great energy and motivation and always looks to get her teammates going, already close to 900 points and 900 rebounds for her career.

 

Madison Hucky, Mayer Lutheran, G, Senior: 3x All Conf, 16.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, Great outside shot, nice ability to play off the dribble as well, second in school history in points (1406), and School record holder in career three pointers.

 

Mya Chmielweski, Mayer Lutheran, G, Senior: 4x All Conf, All Star Series Player, All State Team, 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3 steals, 48% shooting, Great leadership on and off the court, good ability to defend anywhere on the court, school all time scoring leader (1502) and Steals Leader (396), Second in school history in rebounds (613)

 

CJ Decker, HLWW, G, Sophomore: 2x All Conf, 14 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, plays like a coach on the floor, unselfish player that makes others better, big part of a team that had an 8 win improvement over the previous year.

 

Bren Fox, NYA, F: Led the Raiders in scoring averaging 12.8 a game and rebounds averaging 9.4. Very good defensive player who makes it tough to score inside. 4 time all conference players as well as the MN River Conf. MVP the past two seasons. To date has 1521 points and 1253 rebounds.

 

Kali Grimm, NYA, G: averaged 11.6 points for the Raiders this year. An dangerous scorer from the wing who has great shooting range. 5 time all conference player. Holds the school record for points ( to date 1970 points ) as well as three point field goals made. Also in top 5 in schools history in steals as well as assists.

 

Abby Mackenthun, NYA, G: averaged 11.5 points per game. Abby led the Raider in assists with 5 a game as well as steals with 3 a game. Her height and great anticipation makes her a tough defender at the the guard position. Abby is a three time all conference player for the Raiders.

 

Hannah Purcell, Annandale, Junior, G/F: All Conf, 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, was the centerpiece of the team until a knee injury cut her year short, Teams top player and hardest worker, made things flow on the court, committed to DePaul University.

 

Olivia Kuechle, EVW, Sophomore, G: All Conf, 14 points, 3.5 assists, 3 steals, 6.2 rebounds, hard worker on both ends of the floor, great leader, runner up for Conference Player of the Year.

 

Emily Heimkes, GFW, Senior, G: Quiet Leader and calming presence on the floor, first year taking over the PG position, 15.1 points, 3.8 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals

 

McKenna Monahan, GSL, Senior, G: All Conf, All State HM, 20.5 points, 4 steals, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, one of the top shooting guards in the state, 2000 point scorer, nice role model for younger players.

 

Miah Monahan, GSL, Freshman, G: All Conf, 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.7 steals, grown into a big role, led team in rebounding as a PG, helps coach the 5th grade team.

 

Erin O’Brien, Kimball, Junior, C: All Conf, 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, 51% shooting, dedicated player, able to handle double and triple teams, the player other teams try and stop.
