Carver County Vets Head to D.C. 24 Apr 18

142 veterans from Carver County are headed to Washington D.C. Wednesday.

KSTP reports they’re part of an all-expense paid “Memorial Trip” for Vietnam and Korean War Veterans that’s being organized by the Waconia Lion’s Club.

During their one-day trip they will tour the memorials and meet with Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Rep. Tom Emmer.

Some say the trip is about getting recognition. Others say it’s about getting closure.

The trip will cost about $95,000, and it’s paid for by donations from individuals and agencies around the county.

The Memorial Trip will culminate with a parade through Waconia to welcome the veterans home Wednesday night.
