Two Teens Injured, One Critically, in Meeker County Boating Accident 30 May 18

(KWLM/Dassel MN-) Two teens were injured, one critically, in a weekend boating accident in Meeker County.

The sheriff’s department says just before 1 p.m. Saturday they got a 911 call about an accident involving a child being pulled on a tube behind a boat on Big Swan Lake in Dassel Township.

A 13-year-old was operating the boat when the propeller cut two people being pulled. One victim, 13-year-old Alexander Pazahanick of Bloomington was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with critical but stable injuries.

A second victim, 16-year-old Ethan Favour of St. Louis Park was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield by private vehicle.

Investigators believe operator inexperience was a major factor in the accident, and the 13-year-old driver faces potential charges. The owner of the boat, 41-year-old Jeffrey Pazahanick of Bloomington was ticketed for allowing illegal operation of a watercraft.
