Hutchinson City Council Discusses Invocation Policy 13 Jun 18

The Hutchinson City Council last night (Tuesday) continued discussion on how it’s going to handle the invocation before council meetings.

Recently, the council agreed to continue the practice of having an invocation before the meetings, but decided to draft an actual policy on how the city will select those giving the invocation, with the idea of being more inclusive. The council discussed a rough draft of the policy last night.

Up until now, those giving the invocation were selected by an informal agreement with the Hutchinson Ministerial Association, which is a Christian organization.

The council felt they should be responsible for the process and agreed to draft and ultimately adopt an official policy at a future city council meeting.
