Sibley County Senior Expo

The 2012 Sibley County Senior Expo will take place on Tuesday, April 17th, at the Community Center (204 Shamrock Drive) in Arlington. The day will being with muffins, coffee and juice beginning at 9:00 AM. There will be a wide variety of booths presenting information about services available to Sibley County Seniors, plus local crafters will have their wares available throughout the day. Specific presentations are planned on Nutrition for Seniors, chair aerobics, genealogy by the Sibley County Historical Society and “Music of the Ages” by Lyndon Peterson. There will also be entertainment by The Loony Lutherans. A traditional church basement meal will be served at noon and the day’s events will conclude at 2:15 PM. Bloodmobile in Howard Lake

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at St. James Lutheran Church (1000 6th Avenue) in Howard Lake on Tuesday, April 17th, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM. If you’re at least 17 years of age (or 16 with a signed Red Cross Parent/Guardian Consent Form), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you’re encouraged to donate. Walk ins are always welcome, but if you’d like to make an appointment, call Donna at 320-543-2444. Parent/Guardian Consent Forms are available at Joe’s Sport Shop in Howard Lake or at the HLWW High School Office.

Caregiver Support Group Meeting

The next meeting of the Renville County Hospice Caregiver Support Group will be on Tuesday, April 17th, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in the Willette Room of RC Hospital & Clinics (611 East Fairview) in Olivia. The meeting is free of charge, and there will be time for discussion and support. Future meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of each month. Concussion Program at MMH

Meeker Memorial Hospital (612 South Sibley) in Litchfield will present “Sudden Impact: Implications of Concussion,” on Tuesday, April 17th, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Conference Center. The event will cover several concussion related topics, including signs and symptoms of concussion, how impact testing is used to determine effects of concussion, and teaching and coaching implications. Silver Lake Lions Sausage Supper

The Silver Lake Lions will host their annual Sausage Supper on Wednesday, April 18th, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM at the Silver Lake Auditorium (320 Main Street East). The menu will include Polish sausage, sauerkraut, cheesy hash brown potatoes and more. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 4 – 12, and free for kids 3 and younger.

McLeod Senior Citizens Quarterly Meeting

Dassel-Cokato Community Education is offering a free parenting workshop, “Six Simple Ways to Get Kids to Do What you Want,” on Thursday, April 19th, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the Dassel-Cokato High School (4852 Reardon Avenue SW) Choir Room. First Congregational UCC Rummage Sale

The First Congregational United Church of Christ (31 4th Avenue SW) in Hutchinson will have a rummage sale on Friday, April 20th, from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. All items will be priced at 50¢ (unless otherwise marked). Starting at noon, all items will be priced at 25¢, and after 1:00 PM, it’s just $1.00 for everything you can stuff in a bag. Coffee and cookies will be available while you shop.
