    1. Allen and Matt Concert
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      The LWML of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, is inviting you to join them for some great music.  They are sponsoring a father-son duo, Allen & Matt Carlson who will entertain you with some great country music, gospel & hymns.  The event will be Dec. 6, 7:00p.m..  There will be a free will offering.

      8:30 am – 11:00 am

      Enjoy breakfast with Santa at the Plato Hall on Saturday, Dec 12th from 8:30a-11a. Everyone is welcome for all you can eat Sausage, Eggs, Pancakes and More. Free will donations accepted. Proceeds benefit Plato’s Santa Bags and Fruit Baskets for Shut-ins. 

    2. Christmas Cookie Sale
      9:00 am – 11:00 am

      Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson has their 25th annual Christmas Cookie Sale on Saturday, Dec 12th from 9am until Gone. Several hundred dozen cookies and treats available for $8 per pound. Bring your own container.  

    3. St. A’s Christmas Market
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      St. Anastasia is holding their Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec 12th from 9a-3p. Breakfast with St. Nicholas runs from 9a-Noon and is $5 per person or $20 per family. There is Christmas Tea, Bake Sale, Vendors, Silent Auction and more! Proceeds go to the “LEAST” Project.

    1. Candle Lighting
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Hutchinson Area Compassionate Friends will be hosting its annual Candle Lighting Remembrance program on Sunday evening,December 13th at 6:30 pm. It will be held at the Dobratz/ Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Anyone who has lost a child, grandchild, a sibling or would just like to come remember a child who has died too soon, regardless of age is welcome to attend. There will be a program featuring special music, the actual candle lighting, and refreshments to follow. Please bring a picture of your child to display.  In case of bad weather, please listen to KDUZ/KARP/KGLB for rescheduling. Any questions may be directed to 320-583-6036.

    2. Christmas Carol and Hymn Sing
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Brownton Congregational Church hosts their Christmas Carol and Hymn Sing on Sunday, Dec 13th from 7-8 pm. Join them for Songs of Old and Familar, followed by Sweets and Cider. The Church is also collecting Coats for the Homeless this year. You’re encouraged to bring one to drop off at the church.

      The Hutchinson REACH Program is hosting their Community Outreach Dinner on Thursday, Dec 17th from 6-7 pm, serving the community at the Peace Lutheran Church. All are welcome, Free Tickets available at the church or from Common Cup Ministry.

      10:00 am – 4:00 pm

      The Foundation for Challenged Children invite you to take a photo with Santa’s Pony, Frosty on December 19th and 20th at Runnings in Hutchinson.  Hours from 10-4p, No charge for the event and kids receive a free snowflake ornament.  

    2. Stille Nacht
      10:30 am – 11:30 am

      St John’s Lutheran Church of NYA presents Stille Nacht, A German Christmas Service on Saturday, December 19th from 10:30-11:30 am. All German Language, Hymsn, Scripture and more. Music by the Singing Friends Chorus. Service will be broadcast on AM 1260 KDUZ from 1-2 pm on Sunday, Dec 20th.  

    3. SL Winter Festival
      12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

      The Silver Lake Winter Festival will be held this Saturday, Dec. 19 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.  Sleigh Rides, Door prizes, music, free sandwiches and pet the reindeer all at the Silver Lake Auditorium.  Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the American Legion Rooms.

      The Mcleod County Historical Society is having their Potluck Dinner Fundraiser on Monday, Dec 21st from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Museum. There is also a silent auction running now through Dec 21st at the Museum. More info at mcleodhistory.org

    1. Tim Orth Foundation accepting Applications
      8:45 am – 9:45 am

      The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization designed to help young people who are ill and need assistance in paying for their medical treatment. Right now they are accepting applications for their Basketball Fundraiser in April. Applications will be accpeted until December 28th. Persons in the area who know of such a child who could benefit from the organization can obtain an application by calling Ralph Johnson at 320-587-6733 or Don Tangen at 320-864-6010.

    1. Corn for Wildlife
      7:00 am – 11:00 am

      Shady Lane Sportsmens Club will have a corn giveaway for wildlife and breakfast on Saturday, January 2 from 7am-11am at the club house.

    2. Plain Hearts Audition
      10:30 am – 12:00 pm

      Auditions for “Plain Hearts,” a small cast musical, will take place Saturday, January 2 at 10:30 a.m. or Tuesday, January 5, 6:30 p.m. at the Dassel History Center. The play has roles for women ranging in age from 20’s to 70’s as well as several instrumentalists (piano, guitar, saxophone, bass, trumpet). Rehearsals will begin early January. Those interested are welcome to come to either audition time. Please prepare a song for the audition and bring your calendar and winter conflict schedule. If unable to attend either date, or if you have any questions, contact Production Assistant Deborah Moen at 612­236­5137 or Director Jon Benson at 612­321­1263.Those interested in helping with set construction or behind the scenes should contact Deborah Moen as well.

      You’re invited to a benefit for the Inclusive Play Park in Hutchinson on Saturday, Jan 9th. Serving a Prime Rib Dinner at the Elks Lodge in Hutchinson. Cost is $19.25 for the meal. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday at the Elks Lodge or by calling 587-3116. All proceeds benefit the Park.

      The Phoenix Drumline is holding their Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Jan 10th at the Elks Lodge in Hutchinson. Serving from 8a-Noon, all you can eat Pancakes, Eggs, Ham, Sausage and more. Cost is $7.  

    2. Art Contest
      10:15 am – 11:15 am

      Calling all Artists! Submit your artwork for the 2016 Winter Artisan Showcase from the South Central Artisans and the Hutchinson Center for the Arts. Entries are due January 10th, and can come in many categories: 2D Visual Art, Photo or Digital Art, Fiber Art, and 3D/Sculpture. Prizes awarded, more details at HutchinsonArts.org

    3. Les Kouba Gallery Reopening
      2:00 pm – 3:15 pm

      The Mcleod County Museum is holding their Grand Re-opening of the Les Kouba Art Gallery on Sunday, Jan 10th at 2 pm. Come see the new space!

      You’re invited to a talk about Child Sex Trafficking on Tuesday, Jan 12th from 6:30-8:30 pm at Harmony River in Hutchinson. There will be a presentation and discussion on Sex Trafficking of youth in West Central MN, light refreshments are provided.

      The Brownton Congregational Church will hold their Community Dinner on Wednesday, Jan 13th from 5-7 pm with a free will offering. The Dinner is hosted the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

      The Mcleod Social Service Center is seeking nominations for the Professional Family Child Care Provider of the Year. Parents and Community Members are encouraged to nominate a licensed family child care professional who have had a positive impact on children and the community.     2. Pizza and Play Event
      10:30 am – 7:00 pm

      The GSL ECFE is having a Pizza and Play event on Friday, January 15th from 10:30-11:30 am AND 6-7 pm at the Learning Center in Glencoe. Ages 2-Kingergarten entry and their parents are welcome.       Hamburg Lions will be hosting there Annual Pancake Brunch on Sun. Jan. 17th, 8:30 – 12:30 at the Hamburg Community Hall, Hamburg, MN. Items served will be Pancakes, Sausages, Scrambled Eggs, Apple Sauce & Beverages. All proceeds will got to Hamburg Park Beautification Project.
