    2. June 26 Red Cross Bloodmobile in Lester Prairie
      1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Lester Prairie City Hall (37 Juniper Street North) on Wednesday, June 26th, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM. If you are in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and are at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parental consent), you’re encouraged to donate. For an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

    3. June 26 Ice Cream Social at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Hector)
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA) of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (500 Cedar Avenue East) in Hector invites you to its annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 26th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The meal will be served in the church’s Fellowship Hall and will include barbecues, turkey sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad and homemade pie and ice cream. A free will donation will be accepted. Take out meals will be available.

    1. Peace Lutheran Church Garage Sale (all-day)

      Peace Lutheran Church will be having their annual garage sale on June 27,28 and 29th. This is being held at the McLeod County Fairgrounds. June 27-4 to 7 pm, June 28-8to5pm and June 29th 8am to noon. We hope to see you there.

      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Four former area high school athletes (Courtney Fox, Ashley Kiecker, Molly Monahan and Amanda Tronick) who are currently members of the Bemidji State University volleyball team, will be teaming up with Papa Murphy’s Take’N’Bake Pizza (1380 Highway 15 South) in Hutchinson for a fundraiser to help the team travel to Nicaragua. On Thursday, June 27th, or Friday, June 28th, purchase at least $10.00 at Papa Murphy’s in Hutchinson, save your receipt and turn it into one of the girls between 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Another way to support the team is to purchase a Papa Murphy’s coupon book for only $5.00. Coupon books can be purchased at the Hutchinson location or by contacting one of the participants.

    1. June 28 Deployment Party at Cosmos American Legion
      5:30 pm – 12:00 am

      The Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 126 (100 Astro Boulevard East) in Cosmos will host a Deployment Party for the National Guard Unit based in Litchfield. The event will be on Friday, June 28th, beginning with a chicken, fish and ribs buffet from 5:30 – 8:00 PM, followed by music provided by a DJ from 8:00 PM – midnight. The cost for the buffet is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Please call 320-877-7525 to confirm attendance.

    2. New Ulm Actors Community Theatre

      New Ulm Actors Community Theatre requests the honor of your presence at a marriage (and a murder) Miss Inga Schleissithoff, daughter of Otto and Ivan Schleissithoff to Mr. Dino D. Dahmdan on Friday and Saturday, June 28 & 29, “Murder at the Schleissithoff Wedding”.

      A hog farmer from Essig is not happy that his daughter is marrying the son of a Mankato mob boss but the wedding invitations have gone out.

    1. June 29 Zumbathon Charity Event for Relay for Life
      9:00 am – 11:00 am

      The “From Penny’s to Dollars” Relay for Life Team is teaming up with Zumba with Tricia Kiewel to host a “Zumbathon – Make Every Move Count” charity event on Saturday, June 29th, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the McLeod County Fairgrounds (840 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. Registration will be from 8:00 – 9:00 AM. The cost is $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. Tickets are available from team members and at Zumba with Tricia Kiewel classes.     2. June 29 Swedefest at Bernadotte Lutheran Church
      4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      Bernadotte Lutheran Church (6 miles east of Lafayette at 34122 515th Avenue) will celebrate its 19th Annual Swedefest on Saturday, June 29th, starting at 4:00 PM. The event will feature great entertainment including The Little Prairie Pickers, The Kingery Family, horse-drawn wagon rides, refreshments, a silent auction and the famous Swedish Smorgasbord. The cost for the meal is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 6 – 12, and free for kids 5 years of age and younger. In case of inclement weather, all events will be held in the church.     1. June 30 Dad’s Belgian Waffles at St. Mark Lutheran Church

      St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany will host a Dad’s Belgian Waffle Breakfast on Sunday, June 30th, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Mark School (211 Adams Avenue South). Everyone is welcome.

    2. Palmyra Swedish Methodist Church Service

      The Palmyra Swedish Methodist Church will be holding its annual commemorative service on Sunday, June 30. A potluck luncheon will be served after the service.

    3. June 30 Commemorative Service at Palmyra Swedish Methodis Church
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      The historic Palmyra Swedish Methodist Church (41209 730th Avenue), rural Hector, will hold its annual Commemorative Service on Sunday, June 30th, beginning at 2:00 PM. A potluck luncheon will be served after the service. The church is located two miles south of the intersection of Renville County Roads 3 and 4, and 1¾ miles west.

    4. June 30 Sundaes for Sunday at BCC
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      This year’s Patriotic Service at the Brownton Congregational Church (127 5th Avenue North) will be Sunday, June 30th, at 7:00 PM. The theme will be “Sons of Liberty.” Ice cream sundaes will be served following the service.

    1. July 1 Hunger Free McLeod Fundraiser at Hutchinson DQ
      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You can help Hunger Free McLeod eliminate hunger by visiting the Dairy Queen (46 Main Street North) in Hutchinson on the first Monday of every month. Stop in and enjoy your DQ favorites between 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and they’ll donate 10 percent of all sales to Hunger Free McLeod. For more information, check out www.hungerfreemcleod.org.

    1. July 9 Wright County Alzheimer Support Meetings
      1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The next scheduled meetings of Wright County Human Services Alzheimer Support Group will take place on Tuesday, July 9th, and Tuesday, July 16th. The meeting on the 11th will be from 1:30 – 3:00 PM at the Buffalo Adult Day Center (613 Montrose Blvd.), and the meeting on the 18th will be from 1:30 – 3:00 PM at the Monticello Community Center (505 Walnut Street).     2. July 9 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, July 9th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the public and is free of charge.     1. Pork Chop Supper
      5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      The Dassel Cokato Legion is sponsoring a pork chop supper on July 12th at the Saints Field in Dassel. The price is $7.00. There are two games that will be taking place that night.     1. July 13 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, July 13th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    2. July 13 Benefit for Jamie Grams-Petzel
      10:30 am – 3:00 pm

      The American Legion Club (329 Main Avenue) in Gaylord will host a benefit for Jamie Grams-Petzel as she continues her fight against breast cancer. The benefit will be on Saturday, July 13th, from 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Stop by and enjoy a meal featuring pulled pork sandwiches, take part in the silent auction and bake sale, and support Jamie!

    1. July 14 Hutchinson Sons of Norway Event
      8:00 am – 5:30 pm

      The Hutchinson Lodge of the Sons of Norway has chartered a coach bus for the annual celebration of Norway Day on Sunday, July 14th, at Minnehaha Falls Park in Minneapolis. The bus will leave the west parking lot of the Hutchinson Senior High School at 8:00 AM and return at 5:30 PM. The cost for transportation is $12.50/person and is non-refundable. A program book with coupons for drawings can be purchased for $2 at the event. The event includes Hardingfelelag music at 10:30 AM, followed by a worship service at 11:00 AM and Children’s Parade at 12:55 PM. There will also be arts and crafts, musicians and dancers from Norway, Norwegian American entertainment, Norwegian Glee Club, Norwegian food and drawings for prizes. All ages are welcome!     2. July 14 White Squirrel Festival in Plato
      8:30 am – 2:00 pm

      Plato’s White Squirrel Festival is planned for Sunday, July 14th. The activities begin with the Omelet Brunch at 8:30 AM. The Community Church Service featuring the Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Choir is at 9:30 AM. Other activities are St. Paul’s UCC Silent Auction from 8:30 AM – noon, the Hutchinson Clown Club performing at 10:30 AM, and the duck races at 1:00 PM. The Plato Blue Jays will be in action as well, playing the Winsted Wildcats at 2:00 PM.

    3. July 14 Brownton Congregational Church to Honor Eunice Warner
      10:15 am – 11:15 am

      The Brownton Congregational Church (127 5th Avenue North) will honor organist and music teacher Eunice Warner on Sunday, July 14th. Eunice has served as the church’s organist for 60 years. The event is open to the public and will begin at 10:15 AM.

    4. July 14 Community Bingo at Ecumen Oaks & Pines
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area seniors are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, July 14th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Dining Room at the Ecumen Oaks & Pines (1015 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. The cost is 25 cents per card for each regular game. The last game will be a “cover all” game and will be $1.00 per card, winner takes all. Coffee and snacks will follow the fun!       The next meeting of the Renville County Hospice Caregiver Support Group will be on Tuesday, July 16th, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in the Willette Room of RC Hospital & Clinics (611 East Fairview) in Olivia. The topic for this month’s meeting is “Quick, Easy, Cheap and Delicious Meals.” You are reminded to bring the materials and cookbook provided at the June meeting to continue with meal planning and additional information. The meeting is free of charge, and there will be time for discussion and support. Future meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of each month.       The McLeod County Senior Citizens Potluck Picnic will be Wednesday, July 17th, beginning at noon at the Glencoe City Center (1107 11th Street East) in Glencoe. Please bring a dish to share. The oldest lady and man will be crowned queen and king for the day. Please use the east entrance and come for an afternoon of fun.

      Fields of Grace Parish has events at two of its churches on Wednesday, July 17th. Swan Lake Lutheran Church (51420 Fort Road), rural New Ulm, will have its Pie & Ice Cream Social from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Then at 7:15 PM, Bernadotte Lutheran Church (34122 515th Avenue) east of Lafayette will have an outdoor service featuring a short devotional program and music with a message. The public is invited.

      “Excited About Grace!” is the theme as Grace Lutheran Church (8638 Plum Avenue) of Brownton celebrates its 125th Anniversary. On Friday, July 19th, they’ll have an Ice Cream-Dessert-Pie Social, horse-drawn wagon rides, music and a bonfire. Saturday’s activities include a 5K Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run, a light breakfast and games for youth and adults. On Sunday, the worship service will be at 10:00 AM, a catered meal will be served at 11:30 AM (tickets available at the door) and the 125th Anniversary Program will be at 1:00 PM.

    2. July 19-21 Peace Lutheran Church Paper Drive

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) of Hutchinson is holding a Paper Drive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 19th, 20th and 21st. Drop off hours on Friday and Saturday are from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM – noon.

    3. July 19 St. John’s (Darwin) Ice Cream Social
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Council of Catholic Women of St. John’s Church in Darwin invites you to its annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 19th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the St. John’s Educational Center (17260 US Highway 12) between Dassel and Cokato. The menu will include barbecues, potato salad, chips, pie and ice cream. The cost is a free will offering.
