  1. Dec

    1. Winter Concerts
      2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Crow River Singers present their Winter Concerts: Friday, Dec 2nd at 7 pm, New Journey UCC of Hutchinson – Saturday, Dec 4th at 2 pm, Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson. Tickets are $8 per person, under 12 is free.

    2. BASICS Holiday Concert
      3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The BASICS Holiday Concert is coming up on Sunday, Dec 4th at 3 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stewart. After the concert a free will donation dinner is served until 6 pm.

    1. GSL ECFE Holiday Program
      10:30 am – 11:30 am

      GSL ECFE has their Holiday Workshop on Thursday, Dec 8th from 10:30-11:30a and 6-7p. Kids ages 1-Kingergarten Entry are invited to make ornaments, create art, Hear stories, and more! Cost is free, but they ask you to bring a new unwrapped toy for a child in need. Register on the GSL Schools website or call 320-864-2681.

      The River City Theatre Company of Watertown presents A Christmas Carol for three performances Dec 8th and 9th at 7 pm, and 10th at 2 pm. Performances at the Watertown Mayer Primary School Auditorium

      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Anastasia has their Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec 10th from 9a-1p. Enjoy Breakfast with St. Nicholas, Christmas Tea, Bake Sale, Vendors and more!

    2. Singing Friends Chorus
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      The Singing Friends Chorus, with members from McLeod, Meeker, Carver and Sibley Counties, presents two Christmas concerts this season:   Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 pm at Church of Peace in NYA, and Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 pm at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.  The concert features well-known Christmas favorites, spirituals, and modern works. In addition to the full choir selections, the concert features several solos, duets and small group performances. Admission is by free will offering at the door, with a reception to follow. 

    3. Julebord
      5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Sons of Norway invite you on Saturday, December 10th at 5:30p to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson for their Annual Potluck Julebord and Norsk Jul Bingo. Bring a traditional Scandinavian or American dish to share.

    1. Puppet Show
      6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      On Sunday Dec 11 beginning at 6 pm The Living Water Puppets of Grace Bible Church will be putting on a special Christmas program about a family (puppets) who gets stuck in an airport at Christmas,   Young children will especially enjoy the puppets.  There is no charge—and the public is invited to attend.  

    2. Service of Remembrance
      6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Area Chapter of the Compassionate Friends would like to extend an invitation to the annual Holiday Remembrance Candle lighting Service. This event is open to anyone who would like to light a candle in memory of a child who has died too soon.You are invited to bring an 8 X 10 picture of your child for display during the program. This service will be held at the Dobratz / Hantge Funeral Chapel, Hutchinson on Sunday evening, December 11th, at 6:30 pm. There will be special music and a beautiful candle lighting, followed by a time of refreshments and a special remembrance cake

      The Brownton Congregational Church is having a Christmas Carol Sing Along Sunday, Dec. 11th at 7 pm

      The Brownton American Legion and Auxiliary will have their December Christmas Party on December 12th at the Brownton Community Center. Social Hour at 6 pm, Meal at 6:30 pm

      The Meeker County Historical Society presents a Presentation by John Grabko on “The Amazing Life and Early Demise of Glenn Miller” on Sunday, Jan 8th from 1-3p at the G.A.R. Hall. $2 Admission.

      The Brownton Congregational Church will hold their Community Dinner on Wednesday, December 14th rom 5-7 pm with a free will offering. The Dinner is hosted the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

      9:00 am – 9:15 am

      Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson is holding it’s annual Christmas Cookie Sale on Saturday, Dec 17th from 9a-until Gone. Cost is $8 per pound, bring your own carry out container.  

    2. SL Winterfest
      12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

      The Silver Lake Winter Festival will be held this Saturday, Dec. 17, from 12:30 – 2:30 PM, in the Silver Lake Auditorium.  Free Sandwiches, door prizes, kids coloring contest, music by Mid-Minnesota Concert Band and Alice Nowak. Get a nice ride in a horse drawn wagon thru town. Then go across the street and visit Santa and Mrs. Claus.

    3. Bluegrass Gospel Christmas
      6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

      It’s the Bluegrass Gospel Christmas on Saturday, Dec 17th at 6:30 pm at the DC Performing Arts Center. Performing is the Kingery Family and the Mahlstedt Family. Cost is a Free Will Donation.

    1. Silent Auction Fundraiser
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Mcleod County Historical Society presents their Christmas Silent Auction Fundraiser on Sunday, Dec 18th from 5:30p-7:30p at the Museum. Cost of Admission is a Potluck dish to pass and a wrapped gift for the live auction. More info available at mcleodhistory.org

    1. Live Nativity
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Enjoy a live nativity on Wednesday, Dec 21st from 6:30-7:30pm at Rickeman’s Farm Site on South Grade Road, Hutchinson. Parking is available on site or at Oak Heights Covenant Church. The free event features live characters and animals depicting Jesus’ birth.

    1. Glencoe Living Nativity Rescheduled
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Visit a Living Nativity at Oak Leaf Park on Friday evening, Dec 23.  This is a drive-through production featuring six scenes depicting Jesus’ birth.  Live animals, crafted scenery, biblical characters, and music will provide a memorable Christmas experience for the entire family.  Enter Oak Leaf Park from south road and turn left at Vollmer Field.  Admission is free, however, feel free to bring a food or monetary donation for the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf.

      The Plato Lions are having a Pork Chop Dinner New Years Day at the King Pin Pub. $10 is the cost for 2 Pork Chops, Potatoes, Green Beans, Roll and Dessert…OR $4 for a Kids Meal of Mac and Cheese, Hot Dog and Cookie. Serving from 11am until gone, music at 2 pm with Doug Studemann.

      The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization designed to help children who need assistance in paying for their medical treatment. On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the Foundation will stage its 19 h Annual Benefit to raise funds for children with medical needs. Applications for the fund-raiser will be accepted until January 2, 2017. Persons in the area who know of a child with medical needs can obtain an application by calling Ralph Johnson at 320-587- 6733 or Don Tangen at 320-864-6010.

Also there is Food, Raffles, Prizes, Live and Silent Auction. Proceeds benefit Mike Tesch who’s battling Cancer.

      The Hutchinson Ministerial Association invites you to participate in the annual Community Worship and Prayer Service on Martin Luther King Jr Day, Jan 16, Monday evening from 6:30 to 8pm at Oak Heights Covenant Church. This event is provided by our pastors to build unity between our area churches. Worship will be led by a team of area worship leaders gathered by Pastor Adam Krumrie of CrossPoint Church. While there is no cost to attend, a free-will offering will be taken to support the ministry of Common Cup. For more information call the church office at 320-587-8483.
