    1. May 19 Cedar Mills Gun Club Pancake Brunch
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      You and your family are invited to the Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club (62841 140th Street) for their monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, May 19th, with serving from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Enjoy all-you-care-to-eat regular and potato pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs and more. The cost is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6 – 12 years of age, and those 5 and younger eat for free. The Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club is located near the intersection of State Highways 7 and 22 northeast of Cedar Mills.

      You and your family are all invited to an old time Gospel Sunday May 19th at 9:15 a.m. in the peace center at Peace Lutheran Church which is located at 400 Franklin St. SW in Hutchinson.

    3. DAD’S BELGIAN WAFFLES
      9:30 am – 12:30 pm

      You are invited to the Stewart City Hall for DAD’S BELGIAN WAFFLES on Sunday May 19th . Serving is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. They will be serving: Waffles, Sausage, Flavored Syrups and a Drink. It is a FREE WILL DONATION! Carry outs available! This is all you can eat, so bring your appetite! All proceeds go to the McLeod County Relay for Life American Cancer Society.

    1. May 21 Caregiver Support Group Meeting
      1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The next meeting of the Renville County Hospice Caregiver Support Group will be on Tuesday, May 21st, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in the Willette Room of RC Hospital & Clinics (611 East Fairview) in Olivia. The topic of this month’s meeting will be “Self-Care and Relaxation Motivation,” with Tanya Hanson, Massage Therapist with Tanya’s Healing Hands. The meeting is free of charge, and there will be time for discussion and support. Future meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of each month. Also, it is possible to have your care receiver spend the afternoon at Heart to Heart Adult Day Services. For more information, contact Paulette Svoboda at 320-523-3451.

      The bloodmobile will be in Brownton this Friday, May 24th at the Brownton Community Building. The hours will be from 2pm — 7pm. You may call Eunice Warner for an appt. at 320-328-4445.     1. May 27th Memorial Day Service (all-day)
      May 27

      Members of the Plato American Legion will be observing memorial day with a service starting at 9 am at the Plato Community Hall. Memorial Day Address will be given by Captain David Smith, and music will be by the Plato Community Chorus.

    2. May 27 Hutchinson Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
      9:30 am – 10:30 am

      Hutchinson VFW Post 906 and Hutchinson American Legion Post 96, along with their Auxiliaries, will observe Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony on Monday, May 27th. The parade will leave American Legion Post 96 at 9:30 AM and proceed north on Hassan Street to McLeod County Memorial Park. The program will begin at 10:00 AM. In case of inclement weather, the program will be in the auditorium at Riverside Assembly of God Church (20924 Highway 7 West) in Hutchinson.

    1. May 28 Senior Linkage Line Specialist at HEC
      10:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Senior Linkage Line, a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging, will have a specialist at the Hutchinson Event Center (1005 Highway 15 South) on Tuesday, May 28th, from 10:00 AM – noon. The specialist will assist seniors and answer questions about Medicare, Supplemental Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, prescription drugs and much more. The specialist will be at the Event Center the last Tuesday of each month. For more information, call the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800-333-2433.

    1. June 3 Hunger Free McLeod Fundraiser
      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You can help Hunger Free McLeod eliminate hunger by visiting the Dairy Queen (46 Main Street North) in Hutchinson on the first Monday of every month. Stop in and enjoy your DQ favorites between 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and they’ll donate 10 percent of all sales to Hunger Free McLeod. For more information, check out www.hungerfreemcleod.org.

    1. June 5 Trinity Lutheran Ice Cream Social
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      Trinity Lutheran Church (54384 Highway 12 East) in Grove City invites you to its Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 5th, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM. Enjoy barbecue or ham sandwiches, potato salad, potato chips, baked beans, pickles and, of course, pie and ice cream. The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 11 years of age and younger. You can also enjoy just a piece of pie with some ice cream for only $2.00. Everyone is welcome with all proceeds going to the Trinity Bible Camp Fund.

    1. June 14 Bear Lake Sunshine Society Rummage Sale
      9:00 am – 5:00 pm

      The Bear Lake Sunshine Society’s annual rummage sale will be on Friday, June 14th, at Northwoods Park (855 Elm Street NE) in Hutchinson. Sale hours will be from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Stop in and check out the selection of baked goods, clothing, plants and other items. Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent.

    1. June 8 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 8th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

      9:00 am registration at Buffalo Wild Wings Hutchinson. 10:00 am leave

      Stops at The Other Place in Hector, Lamplighter in New Ulm, Whiskey River in St. Peter (lunch), The Dugout in Arlington, Niesen’s Bar and Grill Biscay, and then we will be getting a police escort to parade us back into Hutchison and prizes back at Buffalo Wild Wings, Hutchinson.

    1. “Out of the Blue” Book signing

      The Mcleod County Historical Society & Museum will be hosting an Author Program and a Book Signing of Scott Thoma who wrote the book,”Out of the Blue” on June 9th in the Museum Meeting Room from 2-3pm. This book is a true story of two sisters and their survival of one of the most powerful tornadoes in Minnesota. The museum is located at 380 School Road NW in Hutchinson.       Come and join us at St. John’s Lutheran Church on McLeod Ave in Plato for our VBS program. It will be held June 9-13 from 6pm-8pm, Ages are from K-6th grade.EVERYONE IS WELCOME!       The McLeod County Historical Museum is hosting their annual Pork Chop Supper Fundraiser on June 10th from 4:30-7 pm This fundraiser is located at 380 School Road NW in Hutchinson, in the Museum Meeting Room. The cost includes $10 for adults and $6 for kids. Extra chops will be available for $3.Carryouts are available. Entertainment will by by Chuck Theil. Any questions call 320-587-2109.

    1. June 11 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, June 11th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the public and is free of charge.       The Hamburg Lions and the Hamburg Fire Relief Association invite you to Zummerfest 2013, Friday and Saturday, June 14th and 15th. Some of the highlights this year are the classic car cruise (7:00 PM) and street dance featuring The Castaways (8:30 PM) on Friday. On Saturday, enjoy the Texas Hold’em and Sheephead tournaments (9:00 AM), tractor pull (11:00 AM), classic barbecue contest (5:00 PM) and music by Blurred Vision (8:00 PM).

    2. Burger Night & Dairy Days
      4:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Plato lions will be sponsoring a burger night and dairy days with free ice cream on June 14th from 4–7:30pm at the Plato Park. Engelmann Dairy will be providing the ice cream, toppings and cheese. McLeod Dairy Association is providing the door prizes. Proceeds go to the local projects. Come out and support your local Lions.
