    1. April 9 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, April 9th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the public and is free of charge. For more information, please contact Kristal Ehrke, Alzheimer’s Association volunteer facilitator, at (320) 583-1551. In addition, information about Alzheimer’s disease and other support groups in the area can be obtained by calling the Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900 or www.alz.org/mnnd.

    2. April 9 Firearms Safety Training at Cedar Mills Gun Club
      7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

      The Cedar Mills Gun Club, located a half mile north of the junction of State Highways 7 & 22 near Cedar Mills (62841 140th Street), will be offering a three-session firearms safety training course, beginning on Tuesday, April 9th. The class is open to anyone age 12 and older (copy of birth certificate or drivers license needed at registration on first class date) and you must be able to attend all three sessions. Class dates and times are Tuesday, April 9th (7:00 – 9:30 PM), Saturday, April 20th (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and Sunday, April 21st (1:00 PM – ??). $7.50 will be due at the start of the training and another $7.50, payable to the State of Minnesota, will be due after successful completion or the class.     1. April 12 St. Paul’s UCC Salad Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Women’s Guild of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (308 1st Street NE) in Plato is sponsoring a Salad Luncheon on Friday, April 12th, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The cost is $8.00 with church cookbooks available for $6.00.

    1. April 13 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, April 13th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    1. April 14 Polka Worship & German Dinner
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (201 South Street) in Stewart is sponsoring its annual Polka Worship & German Dinner on Sunday, April 22nd. Worship will be at 10:00 AM featuring the Wendinger Band. The dinner will be served from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The menu includes brats, meatballs, German potato salad, scalloped potatoes, glazed carrots, sauerkraut and more. The cost is a free will donation with proceeds used to replace windows and two exterior doors.

    2. April 14 ENDHUNGERNE Food Packaging Event
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      ENDHUNGERNE is a having a Food Packaging Event on Sunday, April 14th, beginning at 12:00 PM at the Hutchinson VFW (247 1st Avenue SE) and volunteers are needed! Meals packaged will benefit the McLeod County Food Shelf and surrounding communities through the Feed America Food Bank. For more information, visit www.endhungerne.com

    3. April 14 Community Bingo at Ecumen Oaks & Pines
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area seniors are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, April 14th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Dining Room at the Ecumen Oaks & Pines (1015 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. The cost is 25 cents per card for each regular game. The last game will be a “cover all” game and will be $1.00 per card, winner takes all. Coffee and snacks will follow the fun!     1. April 12 Register for Identity Theft Presentation
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, along with the McLeod County Sheriff’s Department, invites you to the Glencoe City Center (1107 11th Street East) on Thursday, April 18th, for a presentation regarding identity theft. McLeod County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Gelken, along with representative of Thrivent, will be the featured speakers. The presentation will begin at 6:00 PM and a light meal will be served.     2. April 18 Lake Marion Improvement Association Meeting
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The next meeting for the Lake Marion Improvement Association will be on Thursday, April 18th, beginning at 6:30 PM at the Brownton Rod & Gun Club, located on the south bay of the Lake (19151 108th Street).       The residents of Plato invite you to check out some of this spring’s best garage sales on Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th. There will be sales at many locations throughout the community beginning at 8:00 AM both days. Just look for the balloons and get ready to save!

    2. April 19th Fluff and Puff Pillow Cleaning Service
      7:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The Glencoe VFW Auxiliary is sponsoring the Fluff and Puff Pillow Cleaning Service on Friday April 19th from 7 am — 3 p.m. at the VFW Club in Glencoe. Bring your pillows to get them cleaned.

    3. April 19 First Congregational UCC Rummage Sale
      8:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The First Congregational United Church of Christ (31 4th Avenue SW) in Hutchinson will have a rummage sale on Friday, April 19th, from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. All items will be priced at 50¢ (unless otherwise marked). Starting at noon, all items will be priced at 25¢, and after 1:00 PM, it’s just $1.00 for everything you can stuff in a bag. Coffee and cookies will be available while you shop.

    4. April 19 Dassel Rod & Gun Club Spring Fish Fry
      11:30 am – 7:00 pm

      The Dassel Rod & Gun Club (70560 229th Street) will serve its Spring Fish Fry on Friday, April 19th, at Sportsman’s Park on Lake Washington. Serving will be from 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM. The cost is $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of 12.

    1. April 21st Pioneer Park Maple Syrup Pancake Breakfast
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Minnesota Pioneer Park (725 Pioneer Park Trail), located just east of Annandale along Highway 55, will present its 36th Annual Maple Syrup Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 21st, from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Enjoy all you can eat pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls (in limited quantity) sausage, juice, coffee, or milk. The cost is $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children ages 4 – 12, and free for kids 3 years of age and younger. They’ll even have fresh made maple syrup for sale!       Our Savior’s will be having a Silent Auction from 9 am to 1 pm. with a free will donation for lunch, to be served from 11:00 – 12:30 and finishing off with a Live Auction starting at 12:30 with Gary Hotovec as the Auctioneer.

    3. April 21 Potato Pancake Dinner
      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      The New Auburn V.F.W. will be serving a Potato Pancake Dinner this Sunday, April 21st at the New Auburn Fire Hall in New Auburn. Serving will begin at 10:30a.m. and go until 1 p.m. The menu includes Potato and Buttermilk Pancakes, Pork Sausage, Applesauce, Cheese, Bars, Coffee and Milk. The cost is $9.00 for Adults, $3.00 for children ages 6-11 and children 5 and under are free. This is All you can Eat!

      The New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women is holding its 54th Annual Convention on Saturday, April 27th, at the Church of St. Pius X(1015 1/2 10th Street East) in Glencoe. The Keynote Speaker and author, Colleen Carrole Campbell, will address “My Sisters the Saints”. Ms. Campbell will speak at 9:00 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend.       The annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive is on Saturday, May 11th. All of Hutchinson’s city and rural letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations that will be delivered to the McLeod County Food Shelf in Hutchinson. Please leave your donation next to your mailbox on May 11th and your letter carrier will pick it up.

    2. The Dassel Rod and Gun Club

      The Dassel Rod and Gun Club will be serving a Fishing Opener Breakfast on May 11th at the Sportsman’s Park on Lake Washington. Breakfast will be served from 6am to 11 am. The menu includes: French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Milk, Juice and Coffee. This is ALL YOU CAN EAT! Bring your Appetite! Adults — $7.00 with Children under 12 — $4.00.

    3. May 11 5K Walk/Run for Common Cup Ministry
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      A 5K Walk/Run to benefit Common Cup Ministry will be on Saturday, May 11th, at Masonic West River Park (1003 Les Kouba Parkway NW) in Hutchinson. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM, with the walk beginning at 10:00 AM and the run beginning at 10:30 AM. The cost is $20.00 per individual, $30.00 per couple, or $50 per family.
