    1. January 26 Gopher Campfire Family Fishing Contest
      12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Gopher Campfire of Hutchinson will host its 29th Annual Family Fishing Contest, featuring a live indoor trout pond, on Saturday, January 26th, from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at the Gopher Campfire Clubhouse (24718 County Road 7), northeast of Hutchinson. Prizes will be awarded for the largest trout, smallest trout and tagged trout. Poles and bait will be provided, and concessions will be available. For more information, visit www.gophercampfire.com.

    1. January 29th Singing Friends Chorus Rehearsals
      7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, January 29th, for the Singing Friends Chorus’ 2013 spring concert season. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays beginning at 7:30 PM at All Saints Lutheran Church (511 Merger Street) in Norwood Young America. The Singing Friends Chorus is a 30-voice, all-ages SATB community chorus based in Norwood Young America.     1. January 30 Mardi Gras Hamball/Meatball Dinner
      5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

      The Women of the ELCA of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (500 Cedar Avenue East) in Hector invites you to its 4th Annual Mardi Gras Hamball/Meatball Dinner on Wednesday, January 30th, with serving from 5:00 – 6:30 PM and take out orders available starting at 5:30 PM.  The menu will features hamballs and meatballs, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, cole slaw, bread, dessert, coffee,  milk and water. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Thursday, January 31st, from 5:00 – 6:30 PM.

    1. February 3 First Lutheran Men’s Club Potato Pancake & Sausage Dinner
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The Men’s Club of First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe will serve its 62nd Annual Potato Pancake & Sausage Dinner on Sunday, February 3rd, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Fellowship Center of First Lutheran Church. The menu includes potato and regular pancakes, sausage, applesauce, cheese, coffee and milk. Prices for the all you care to eat meal is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 4 – 12, and free for children 3 years of age and younger. Take out orders will be available.

    1. February 6 36th Annual Old-Fashioned Soup Supper

      The UCC Women’s Fellowship of the First Congregational United Church of Christ (31 4th Avenue SW) in Hutchinson invites you to its 36th Annual Old-Fashioned Soup Supper on Wednesday, February 6th, with serving from 5:00 – 7:30 PM. The menu includes homemade vegetable beef soup, sandwiches, desserts and more. Tickets are $7.00 for adults ($6.00 in advance), and $3.00 for children 12 years of age and younger. Take out orders will be available for $7.00. Advance tickets are available at the church office (320-587-2125) and at the following Hutchinson financial institutions: Citizen’s Bank & Trust, Citizen’s Bank Satellite Office, MidCountry Bank, Wells Fargo Bank and First Minnesota Bank.

    1. February 9 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, February 9th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    2. February 9 Pre-Valentine’s Day Belgian Waffle Supper
      11:45 am – 12:45 pm

      The Blessed John Paul II Area Faith Mission Group invites you to its annual Pre-Valentine’s Day Belgian Waffle Supper, Silent Auction & Bake Sale on Saturday, February 9th, at the Church of the Holy Family (700 Main Street West) in Silver Lake. Tickets are $6.50 in advance or $7.00 at the door, with serving from 4:30 – 8:30 PM. Homemade pies made by local priests will be auction off at 8:00 PM.     3. February 9 Airing of the Quilts & Bake Sale
      12:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      St. John’s Lutheran Church (216 McLeod Avenue North) in Plato will host the Airing of the Quilts & Bake Sale on Saturday, February 9, from 12:30 – 3:00 PM. The event will include speaker Diane Alsleben, and dessert and beverages will be available. The cost is a free will offering.

    1. February 10 Hector Lions Flapjack Festival
      8:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Hector Lions Club invites you to its annual all you can eat Flapjack Festival on Sunday, February 10th, at the American Bar & Grill (160 Birch Avenue East) in Hector. Serving will be from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Enjoy a meal of flapjacks, French toast, fresh fruit toppings, sausage, coffee, milk and juice. The cost is a free will donation, with proceeds supporting the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart School Safety Patrol’s Reward Day trip to a Minnesota Twins game.

    2. February 10 Community Bingo at Ecumen Oaks & Pines
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area seniors are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, February 10th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Dining Room at the Ecumen Oaks & Pines (1015 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. The cost is 25 cents per card for each regular game. The last game will be a “cover all” game and will be $1.00 per card, winner takes all. Coffee and snacks will follow the fun!     3. February 10 Brownton Baseball Schafskopf Tournament
      3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      The 40th Annual Brownton Baseball Schafskopf Tournament will take place on Sunday, February 10th, at the Brownton Community Center (310 2nd Street North). There will be two sessions, at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

    1. February 12 Bloodmobile at the Peace Center
      12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Peace Center of Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) in Hutchinson on Tuesday, February 12th, from noon – 6:00 PM. If you’re at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parent’s or guardian’s permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in good health, you’re encouraged to donate.

    2. February 12 Dad’s Belgian Waffle Dinner in Winsted
      4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Holy Trinity School Cafeteria (110 Winsted Avenue W) in Winsted will be the site for a Dad’s Belgian Waffle Dinner on Tuesday, February 12th, with serving from 4:30 – 7:30 PM. Enjoy all you can eat waffles, along with strawberries, toppings, sausage and beverages. A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the dinner. Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $7.50 at the door. Children 5 years of age and younger eat for free. Take out orders will be available. The event is sponsored by the Holy Trinity Mission Group.

    3. February 12 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, February 12th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe.       St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson will have a garage sale at the St. A’s School Auditorium (400 Lake Street) Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, March 13th, 14th, and 15th. Most items will be priced at 25¢. Winter coats/jackets will be priced at $1.00 each. Friday will be $2.00 bag day. You’ll find a little bit of everything at this sale – clothing/shoes of all sizes/all seasons, household/miscellaneous items, jewelry, baby items, toys, games, books, magazines, bedding, miscellaneous furniture, pet items and more. Wednesday’s and Thursday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Friday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Everything will be priced to sell.

    2. May 13 Hope rides Pizza Ranch Glencoe

      The Plato Fire Department Relief Association is sponsoring its 61st Annual Fish Fry on Friday, February 15th, at the Plato Community Hall (120 1st Avenue NE). Serving will begin at 3:00 PM, and the menu will feature fish, potato salad, potato chips, baked beans, bread, pickles, bars, coffee and milk. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (free for pre-schoolers). Take out orders will be available.

    1. Wintercade’s 3rd Annual Fishing Contest-February 16th

      On Lake Ripley Litchfield, MN February 16th, 2013 Entry Fee $20.00. Proudly hosted by Litchfield VFW & American Legion 1 PM – 3 PM. Many cash and fishing prizes. Limited to the first 1000 tickets sold. Must be present to win, fish, and Sponsor prizes. Visit the Litchfield VFW or the American Legion for details on prizes to be given out.     2. February 16 The Blackburns in Concert
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Blackburns, a husband and wife bluegrass duo, will perform at the Dassel History Center (901 1st Street North) on Saturday, February 16th, beginning at 7:00 PM. Art and Theresa Blackburn will feature a blend of bluegrass, classic country and some more contemporary music. Tickets are now available online at www.dc.k12.mn.us/pac and at the Dassel-Cokato Community Education office by calling 320-286-4120. All tickets are general admission and are $15.00 for adults and $7.00 for youth. Space permitting, tickets will be available at the door at 6:00 PM the night of the event.

      The Buffalo Lake Police Department’s 4th Annual Tip-A-Cop Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser for the Renville County Food Shelf will be Tuesday, February 19th, at the Straw Hat Grill (104 North Main Street) in Buffalo Lake. Ten percent of total gross sales between 4:00 – 8:00 PM, as well any cash donations, non-perishable food items, tips and gratuities will be donated to the Renville County Food Shelf. Local police officers will be your servers for the evening. Come and support this worthy cause.
