  1. Dec

    1. Christmas at First Congregational
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      First Congregational Church of Glencoe has their Christmas Celebration on Saturday, December 2nd from 10a-1p. Hot Pork Sandwiches along with Soup and Pie served for Lunch. Also shop the goodies…lefse, rosettes, krumkake, cookies, candy and more!

    2. Kids Only Craft Sale
      10:00 am – 1:30 pm

      the NYA Girl Scouts are having a Kids Only Craft and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec 2nd from 10a-1:30p at Central HS in NYA. Sale is open to Children Only from 10-1, then adults may help Children the last half hour. All items are $3 or less and wrapped at sale.  

    3. St Mary’s Cookie Walk
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St Mary’s of Waverly is holding their annual Cookie Walk and Boutique on Saturday, Dec 2nd from 10a-1p at St Mary’s Fellowship Hall. Chili Lunch available for a free will offering, shop for gifts, cookies and Candy!

    4. Singing Friends Chorus
      2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Singing Friends Chorus will present two Christmas concerts this season:   Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Glencoe, and Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 pm at Church of Peace in Norwood.  The concert features well-known Christmas carols, spirituals, popular songs, and modern arrangements of traditional favorites. Admission is by free will offering, with a reception to follow. 

    5. Theme Basket Auction
      3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      St Mary’s Church of Bird Island is holding their Theme Basket Silent Auction, Bake Sale and Meal on Saturday and Sunday, Dec 2nd and 3rd. Bake Sale and Silent Auction on Saturday from 3-6 pm and Sunday 9:30-12:15 p. Meal for Free Will offering following Saturday Mass.

    1. Living Water Puppets
      1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      On Sunday, December 3rd beginning at 1:00 pm The Living Water Puppets of Grace Bible Church will be putting on a special Christmas presentation titled, “It Happened in the Country.”  Young children will especially enjoy the puppets.  There is no charge—and the public is invited to attend.  

    2. Alive and Kickin
      2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Watertown Area Fine Arts Council is pleased to present Alive & Kickin in concert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, MN on Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 pm. The concert is free to the public. A free will offering and donations of non-perishable food items will be collected to benefit Friends For Life Foodshelf.     3. BASICS Holiday Concert
      3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The BASICS have their Holiday Concert Benefit on Sunday, December 3rd at St Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stewart at 3 pm. Join for an afternoon of music, Silent Auction, Bake Sale, Light Lunch and more with all proceeds going to Chrystal Milbrandt and her battle with thyroid cancer.  

    4. Christmas Concert Benefit
      3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

      Christmas Concert Benefit for Chrystal Milbrandt will be Sunday, Dec 3rd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stewart. The BASICS perform at 3 pm, Hot Sandwich Meal at 4:30 pm for a Free Will Offering. Also dont forget to bid at the Silent Auction.  

    5. Nikolausabend
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Watertown has their Nikolausabend on Sunday, December 3rd from 4:30-7pm. It’s a Holiday Celebration for local families in need. Bring a new Child’s toy or a cash donation per person! Get a complimentary buffet meal indluding Bratwurst, Schnitzel, Sauerkraut, Spatzle, and more!

    1. GSL ECFE Holiday Workshop
      10:30 am – 11:30 am

      The GSL ECFE has a Holiday Workshop on Tuesday, Dec 5th from 10:30-11:30am or 6-7 pm. The event is for kids ages 1 to Kindergarten entry and their familes. The kids will make ornaments, creating art, listen to music, and more! Tution is free, but you are encouraged to bring a new or unwrapped toy for a child in need.     1. Joint Christmas Concert
      7:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The Crow River Singers and Litchfield Area Male Chorus present two joint Holiday Concerts! First one Thursday, Dec 7th at 7 pm at the Litchfield Christian Church, Second on Sunday, Dec 10th , 2 pm at Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson. Admission is $8, under 12 is free. Refreshments served.

    1. Santa Brunch
      8:30 am – 11:30 am

      The Plato Lions Club has Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec 9th from 8:30-11:30a at the Plato Hall. All you can eat Eggs, Pancakes, and more! Free Will Donation accepted. Come See Santa! Proceeds benefit the Santa Bags and Family Care Fruit Baskets.  

    2. Christmas Cookie Sale
      9:00 am – 11:30 am

      Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson is having it’s annual Christmas Cookie Sale on Saturday, Dec 9th from 9a-Gone. Bring your own carry out container for $8/pound. Proceeds benefit Tell the Next Generation.

      Trinity Lutheran Church of Watertown have St. Lucia Tea and Open House on Saturday, Dec 9th from 11a-1p. Come for Music, Candles, Scandinavian Treats and more!

    4. Meeker County Historical Society Open House
      2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      The Meeker County Historical Society has their Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec 9th from 2-5 pm. Enjoy hot cider and cookies while you tour the museum in Litchfield. Free Event!

    1. Christmas Market
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Anastasia Catholic Church of Hutchinson has their 4th annual Christmas Market on Saturday, December 16th from 9a-1p. Serving Breakfast with St Nicholas ($5/person or $20/Family), Also Christmas tea and Coffee Part with Scones. Shop the Bake Sale, Vendors, Quilt Raffle, Silent Auction and more! All Proceeds go to the LEAST project, benefiting the elderly. 

    2. SL Winter Festival
      12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

      The 15th Annual Silver Lake Winter Festival will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 from 12:30 – 2:30 PM.  There will be free sandwiches, cookies & beverages.  A coloring contest for the children (with cash prizes), music, and door prizes throughout the event.  Horse drawn rides available and visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Silver Lake American Legion Club.

    3. Bluegrass Gospel Christmas
      6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

      It’s the 3rd Annual Bluegrass Gospel Christmas at the DC Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec 16th at 6:30 pm. Performing includes the Kingery Family, the Kellen Family, and the Mahlstedt Family. Free will admission.

    1. Silent Auction Fundraiser
      12:00 pm – 2:30 pm

      The Mcleod County Historical Society has their Silent Auction Fundraiser on Sunday, Dec 17th from Noon-2:30 pm at the Mcleod County Museum. Christmas Music with the Cogley Sisters at 1 pm. Items are on display for bidding from December 11th – 17th. More info at mcleodhistory.org

    2. Christmas Sing Along
      2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

      The Brownton Congregational Church presents their annual Christmas Sing-along on Sunday, Dec 17th at 2 pm. Free to attend, stay after for coffee or tea and a taste of “the 12 Breads of Christmas”

    1. Pork Chop Dinner
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Enjoy a Pork Chop Dinner at the King Pin Pub of Plato to raise funds for improvements to the Plato Baseball Park. Serving from 11a-until Gone. $12 for a 2 Chop Dinner, $10 for a 1 Chop Dinner, and $4 for a Kids Meal.

      The Mcleod County Historical Society invites you to an open house in honor of Outgoing Executive Director Lori Stangell on her last day at the Museum on Friday, January 5th. The Open House will be from 4-7 pm and refreshments will be served. Stop by and wish Lori good luck in her next endeavor!

    1. Adults with Aging Parents Support Group
      6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

      A Free Adults with Aging Parents Support Group will be meeting Tuesday, January 16th at Prince of Peace Retirement Living in Hutchinson starting at 6:30 pm. The Group is open to the public, find more info at poprl.org

    2. Workshops
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Church of Peace of NYA is having some free workshops in January from Lighthouse Conseling.
      Tuesday, Jan 16: Lisa Inman on Anxiety – Tuesday, Jan 23: Marie Riemer on Suicide – Tuesday, Jan 30: Rebecca McBride and Jodie Dittrich on Depression. The workshops are open to anyone wanting to learn how manage their own mental health.  

    3. Choir Rehearsals
      7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Singing Friends Chorus is a 32-voice SATB community choir that rehearses in Norwood Young America and performs regularly in McLeod, Carver and Sibley counties.  The chorus will start rehearsing for its 14th spring concert season on Tuesday, January 16th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at All Saints Lutheran Church in NYA.  New and prospective choir members are encouraged to join the choir at open rehearsals on January 16th or 23rd to see what it’s all about.  For more information, contact Karen de Boer, director, 320-300-8077.

      GSL ECFE has a Pizza and Play event coming up on Friday, January 19th at the Early Childhood Learning Center from 10:30-11:30a or 6-7p. Ages 1-Kindergarten entry are welcome for a night of hoops, bowling, bounce house fun and more! Register at the ECFE office or call 320-864-2681.

    1. BLHS Fishing Contest
      3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      Join the BLHS FFA Alumni for their 2018 Ice Fishing Contest on Saturday, January 20th from 3-6 pm on the south end of Lake Allie. Registration at 2 pm at the Buffalo Lake Rod and Gun Club, raffle to follow with over $10,000 in prizes awarded. Concessions available. Tickets available from any BLHS FFA Alumni Member.
