    1. Ice Cream Social
      3:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      St. Peter Lutheran Church of Lester Prairie is having their annual Ice Cream Social and Country Store on Sunday, July 26th from 3:30-6:30 pm.  On the menu is Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, BBQ’s, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Homemade Pies, Ice Cream, Root Beer Floats and more.  Take Outs Available.

    1. Lux Benefit
      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You’re invited to a Benefit Picnic and Music in the Park for Jeff Lux on Wednesday, July 29th at Library Square in Hutchinson.  The event runs from 5-8 pm with Live Music and serving Walking Tacos, Cookie and Beverage for $6.  There is also a silent auction, raffle, and games.

      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Glencoe Music in the Park is Wednesday’s during July.  Food available from 6-7 pm, Music starts at 6:30 pm.  Here’s the schedule:  July 29-Chuck and Jason Thiel.

      Silver Lake has their Music in the Park Series Thursdays this summer.  Food Served at 6 pm, Music at 7 pm.  Coming up on the schedule:  July 30-Jim’s Brewers (Seasoned Pork Patties)

    2. The Fantasticks
      6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Theatre Company presents the Fantasticks July 30 and 31st, August 1st, and August 6-8. The show will be at the Hutchinson Middle School, with tickets $18 per person.  Tickets available online at hutchtheatre.org, or in person at the Chamber office or at the Hutchinson Center for the Arts.

      Pola-Czesky Days in Silver Lake–Fri., July 31, Sat. Aug. 1, Sun. Aug.2.  Friday events-Toilet Bowl Races 7 P.M. with street dance to follow.   Saturday events, 8 a.m. 5K run/walk; Flea Market, crafts, 10 a.m. Kiddie parade with games to follow, 1 p.m. Mini Tractor pull & Classic Car Show & Bean Bag Tournament, 7 pm Polka Mass; 8:30 Royalty Ball.  Sunday events, 1 p.m. Parade; 3 p.m. Royalty coronation.  Food all three days

      The Fairfax Library is hosting a Saturday Matinee Movie, this Saturday Aug. 1st at 10:30 am.  They will be showing Disney’s “Enchanted”.

    1. SL Outdoor Worship Service
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      Faith Presbyterian Church and Grace Bible Church of Silver Lake  will be hosting an Outdoor Community Worship Service in the Silver Lake City Park on Sunday, August 2 from 9AM—10 AM. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs. The public is invited to attend. In the event of inclement weather the service will be held at Grace Bible Church.

    1. Solid Rock Day Camp
      9:30 am – 2:30 pm

      Solid Rock Day Camp will be held August 3-6th at Christ the King Lutheran Church of Hutchinson from 9:30a-2:30p each day.  Kids in grades 1-5 are welcome, cost is $20 per child.  Join them for bible fun, crafts, games, outdoor activities, a service project, and a field trip.  More info: ctkhutch.com

    1. Peace Lutheran Church Concert Series
      12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson has their 2015 Summer Concert Series Wednesdays starting at Noon at the church.  The concert is followed by a salad luncheon ($7 suggested donation for luncheon, Concert is free).  This years concerts feature:August 5: Lester Schuft and the Country Dutchmen

      St. Peter’s Lutheran Church WELCA of Hector invites everyone to their Salad Luncheon on Wednesday, August 5th starting at Noon in the Fellowship Hall.  Following Lunch is entertainment from Sam and Melissa Sahlstrom and Family.

      Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Hutchinson has their Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 6th from 4-6:30 pm.  Serving Turkey Salad Sandwiches, BBQ’s, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, baked beans, Pie, Ice Cream and more for Ala Carte prices.  Take Outs available.

    2. Hoopla Train
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Sod House Theatre presents their Hoopla Train and Polkastra at the Pla Mor Ballroom in Glencoe August 6th and 7th starting at 7 pm.  It’s Lawrence Welk meets Hee Haw in the old Vaudevillian tradition with live music, singing, sketch comedy, feats of amazement and featuring a community talent contest!  It’s a show for all ages Bring your dancing shoes and be ready to move to the music of The Chmielewski Fun Time Band. Food and beverages will be available.

    1. Brownton City Wide Garage Sales
      7:00 am – 12:00 pm

      Brownton has their city wide garage sales on August 7th and 8th.  Watch for signs around town.  

    2. Brownton Corn Feed
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Brownton Lions are sponsoring the Annual Brownton Corn Feed on Friday, August 7th at the Brownton Community Center. Serving from5pm to 7pm or until corn is gone. Tickets are $5 for ages 13 & up, $2 for ages 6 – 12 and free for children 5 and under. There will be a kids pedal pull at 7pm with registration starting at 6:30pm. Volunteers are needed to husk corn at 1pm in the city park on that day.

    3. Gopher Campfire Outing
      6:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      You’re invited to Gopher Campfire Club’s Outing August 7-9th at their grounds on Lake Byron, 7 miles North of Hutchinson.  August 7th is Trap Shooting at 6 pm and a Bean Bag Tournament at 7.  August 8th starts at 10 am with Sporting Clays and Trap Shooting, Tractor Pullers from 2-5 pm, Steak Fry at 5 pm, and Live Music at 8 pm.  August 9th is the Archery Shooting Gallery at 11 am, Ham Dinner at Noon with entertainment by Wally Pikal, Youth 22 Shooting Gallery from 1-3, Pedal Pulls at 2, Turtle Races at 3, and the Raffle drawing at 4 pm.  More info go to Gopher Campfire.com

      8:00 am – 10:00 am

      The All Saints Lutheran Church of Darwin has their Twine K Breakfast on Saturday, August 8th from 8a-10a.  Serving Egg Bake, Ham or Bacon, Cinnamon Bread and more.  Adults are $7, Children under 10 are $5.  They will also be raffling a Baseball Quilt.

    2. Pork Sandwiches and Sweet Corn
      10:00 am – 12:30 pm

      The Kingston Lions are serving Pork Sandwiches and Sweet Corn on Saturday, Aug 8th from 10a-12:30 pm.  The event is a part of the annual New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run.  There will also be Entertainment from Wally Pikal.  

    3. Masters Voice Concert
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Litchfield Nazarene Church is hosting the music group “Master’s Voice” on Saturday, Aug 8th at 7 pm.  A free will offering will be taken.

    1. Benefit Spaghetti Dinner
      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      You’re invited to a benefit Spaghetti Dinner for Randy Cassens on Sunday, Aug 9th at the Peace Center in Hutchinson.  Event runs from 10:30a-1p, serving Spaghetti, Salad, Bread, Bars, and Beverage for a free will donation.  Also take part in the silent auction, or shop at the bake sale.  Proceeds benefit Randy’s battle with inoperable brain cancer.

    1. Plato Lions Golf Tournament
      11:00 am – 5:00 pm

      The Plato Lions are having their Golf Tournament on Monday, Aug 10th at the Glencoe Country Club.  Registration at 11 am, Shotgun start at 1 pm.  4 person scramble.  $50 per person for a Glencoe Club Member, $60 for Non Member, or $40 for a Member and you bring you own cart.  Proceeds go to local projects.  For info or to register contact Ron 320-238-2285

    2. 600 Club Meeting
      5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Womens 600 Club will have their Fall Meeting on Monday, Aug 10th , 5:30 pm at Squeaky’s Bar and Grill.  Agenda includes the fall local tournament with rule changes and state tournament.

    3. Hutchinson Music in the Park
      6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      Hutchinson is once again presenting its Music in the Park Series, Mondays this summer at Library Square.  Concerts and activities start at 6:30 pm.  Plus each night a local non-profit host will have refreshments for sale.  This years schedule includes:  

      August 10, Captain Gravitone and the String Theory Orchestra

      The Fairfax Library has Double Digit Hang Time Wednesdays in August, from 3-5 pm for Kids ages 10-18. August 12th is Makey Makey, August 19th is squirt gun painting, and august 26th is a showing of the Disney Movie National Treasure 2.

    2. Veterans Seminars
      9:00 am – 4:00 pm

      McLeod County Veteran Services are hosting free seminars with information unique to active duty Vietnam Era veterans (military service between August 5th, 1964 and May 7th 1975) on both Thursday and Friday August 13th and 14th at the County’s Administrative building in Glencoe. The seminars will be offered four times daily at 9:00 and 11:00am each morning and at 1:00 and 4:00pm each afternoon. Topics covered will include veteran’s access to health care, long-term care, disability benefits, financial assistance, end of life care, burial and survivor benefits.  Questions, call Veteran Services at (320)864-1268.

    3. Plato Lions Burger Night
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Plato Lions are having their Burger Night on Thursday, Aug 13th from 4-7 pm at the Plato Park.  Entertainment by the Rev. Brian Brosz and Friends.  Proceeds go to local Projects.

      The Polka Lovers Klub of America presents their Music Fest at the Pla Mor Ballroom in Glencoe August 14-16.  On Friday it’s Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen from 7-11 pm. Saturday is Malek’s Fisherman at Noon and 4 pm, and Julie Lee and the White Rose Band at 2 pm and 6 pm.  Sunday it’s Gary’s Ridgeland Dutchmen at Noon and 4 pm, and the Leon Olsen Show at 2 pm and 6 pm.  More info: polkofa.com
