    1. Glencoe Living Nativity
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      On Saturday, Dec 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, come and visit a Living Nativity at Oak Leaf Park in Glencoe.  Presented by Glencoe Area Churches, this is a drive-thru production, featuring six scenes depicting the Good News of Jesus’ birth.  Live animals, crafted scenery, biblical characters and music provide a memorable Christmas experience.  Admission is free; however donations of food or money will be collected for the McLeod Emergency Food Shelf.

      4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Glencoe American Legion will be bussing tables at Unhinged Pizza on Monday, Dec 22nd from 4-8 pm.  Proceeds from Tips and food will benefit the Legion.

    1. Movie for the Food Shelf
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Century 9 Theatres in Hutchinson is having a benefit for the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf on Wednesday, Dec 24th.  They will show the movie White Christmas at 11 am and 2 pm.  Free Showings, Cider, Coffee, and Cookies.  Just bring an item for the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf.

    1. Auditions for DC Community Theatre
      11:00 am – 6:00 pm

      Auditions for the DC Community Theatre production of “The Romancers” will take place Saturday, Jan 3rd at 11 am, and Monday, Jan 5th at 6 pm at the Dassel History Center.  Those interested are welcome to come to either audition time and should bring their calendar and winter conflict schedule. Wear clothing that will give you freedom of movement as you may be asked to do some simple fight choreography or basic fencing moves.  If unable to attend either date, or if you have any questions, contact Production Assistant Deborah Moen at 612-236-5137.Those interested in helping with set construction or behind the scenes should contact Deborah Moen.

    1. Cokato Museum Open House
      1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Cokato Museum & Historical Society invites the public for its 15th Annual New Year’s Open House on Sunday, January 4, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The open house will take place in the Centennial Room of the library/museum building.  At this open house the Finnish custom of “melting tin” will be demonstrated.       Hutchinson American Legion Auxiliary is having their next spaghetti supper on Thursday, Jan 8th from 4-7 pm at their new location…the Hutchinson Elks Lodge on Hwy 7 east.  Take outs available.

      9:00 am – 2:00 pm

      The 3rd annual High Island Lake Ice Fishing Contest will be Saturday, Jan 17th.  Registration starts at 9 am, Fishing from 10a-2p.  $5 entry fee…and Cash Prizes awareded for various fishing categories.  Food is available on site, and door prizes are awarded. 

    2. Cedar Mills Lions Membership Drive
      12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The Cedar Mills Lions are having their membership drive on Saturday, Jan 17th from Noon-2 pm at the Cedar Mills Gun Club.  Serving Free Lunch, informational speakers will be on hand also to talk about the Lions and their service activities.  For info contact Wayne at 320-583-0041.

      The GSL ECFE is Sponsoring at “Lets Discover” Day on Friday, Jan 23rd.  Two times for the event…9-10am or 6:30-7:30 pm.  Activities will encourage problem solving skills and explore the why behind how things work. Be prepared to build, investigate, explore, and discover! Tuition: FREE. Please consider bringing used cell phones, ink cartridges or box tops for education that will support GSL programs.

      Macaroni Kid Hutchinson and the Disney Channel present a Premiere Party on Saturday, Jan 24th from 11:30a-1:30p at the Glencoe Library.  The party is for Macaroni Kids from ages 2-7 to celebrate the premiere of Miles from Tomorrowland.  You’ll see the show, plus there will be snacks, activities, and goodie bags.

      St. Pius X Catholic School in Glencoe is having their turkey and Ham Dinner plus Bingo on Sunday, Jan 25th from 11a-1:30 pm.  On the menu is Turkey, Ham, Potatoes and more!  Tickets are $9 for adults, Ages 3-12 are $5, and under 2 is free.  Proceeds benefit the school.

      The GSL ECFE is having another Parent Seminar on Monday, Jan 26th from 7-8 pm featuring Jeff Jenson, GSL Technology Director.  The ever-changing world of technology has created an influx of high tech parenting issues.  Join us for discussion about the positives and negatives of technology in our children’s lives. Nominal fee applies.  Continuing Education credit/certificates available.

    1. Midwest Dairy Meeting
      11:00 am – 1:30 pm

      The Midwest Dairy district meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 27th, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Registration starts at 11, a free lunch and the meeting will follow at noon. All active dairy producers in Carver and McLeod County are invited to attend.

    2. Singing Friends
      7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Singing Friends community chorus has begun rehearsing for its spring concert in May.  Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm at All Saints Lutheran Church in NYA.  Tenors and basses are especially sought, but all singers are welcome.  If you would like to find out more about the chorus, please come to an open rehearsal at All Saints on January 27th at 7:30 pm, or call director Karen de Boer at 320-864-2742.

      The Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church invites you to their annual Spaghetti Feed on Friday, Jan 30th from 5-7 pm.  Serving Spaghetti with your choice of sauce, salad, garlic bread, and a sundae.  Proceeds benefit the church’s building fund.

      Gopher Campfire presents their annual Family Fishing Contest and Live Indoor Trout Pond on Saturday, Jan 31st from Noon-3 pm at their Clubhouse.  Prizes awarded, plus you can take part in some Raffles.  Poles and Bait provided, and food and beverages are also availbale

    2. Benefit Chili Feed
      4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      There is a benefit Chili Feed on Saturday, Jan 31st from 4-9 pm at the VFW in Hutchinson for Janel Cihak.  Cost for the Feed is $8, plus the event has a bake sale, silent auction, and team Janel gear for sale.  Proceeds benefit Janel and her battle with Cancer.

      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Lake Mary VFW Post 9232 is having their annual Chili Feed on Saturday, Jan 31st (Date Change) from 4-7 pm  at the Winsted American Legion.  Advance Tickets are $8, $9 at the door, Kids 10 and under are $4.  Enjoy Chili, Cornbread, Garlic Bread, Veggies, Desserts and more!

    1. Community Breakfast
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Lester Prairie Lions are serving a Commnity Breakfast on Sunday, Feb 1st from 9a-Noon at the LP City Hall.  Serving Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Toast, and beverage.  Cost is $6 for ages 13 and older, $4 for ages 6-12, and age 5 and younger is free.  Proceeds go to support Vietnam Vet Herb Heon and his medical expenses.  

    2. Potato Pancake Dinner
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The First Lutheran Mens Club is having their 64th annual Potato Pancake and Sausage Dinner on Sunday, Feb 1st.  Serving all you can eat from 9a-3p at the Fellowship Center of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.  Adults are $9, Ages 4-12 are $5, 3 and under is free, take outs available.

    3. Souper Bowl Dinner
      12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Church of God is having a Souper Bowl Dinner on Sunday, Feb 1st from Noon-2 pm.  Serving Chili, Chicken Noodle, Tomato and more!  Everyone is welcome to the free dinner.

    4. Archery Meeting
      1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

      Members and friends of Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake will be starting their next  session of an archery ministry called Centershot for those  of all ages. Centershot is a Bible-based archery ministry that consists of 45 minutes of archery instruction and a 45 minute Bible study one day a week for 8 weeks.  The church provides the bows and arrows which are used during the training sessions in the church basement shooting range.  Participants pay a nominal fee to help cover the cost of the study book.  The next session of Centershot will begin Sunday, February 1  from 1:00 – 2:30 pm.     1. Special Ed Parent Seminar
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The GSL ECFE is having another Parent Seminar on Monday, Feb 2nd from 7-8 pm featuring Jamie Dop, GSL ECSE Teacher.  This seminar offers an opportunity for families of children with special needs a chance to ask questions and find out more about the ECSE process and program.  It also provides an opportunity for parents to network with each other as they face the joys and challenges of life with a child with special needs. Nominal fee applies.    To register contact ECFE by phone on through their website.
