    1. July 17 Hutch Huskies Fundraiser at Applebee’s (all-day)
      Jul 17

      Applebee’s (1305 Highway 15 South) in Hutchinson will host a fundraiser for the Hutchinson Huskies amateur baseball team on Tuesday, July 17th. Applebee’s will donate 15 percent of your check (excluding taxes and tip) when you dine, just present the “Dining to Donate” flyer to your server. To print a flyer, click here.

    1. Noon Recital Series at Peace Lutheran Church
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      The Noon Recital Series and Salad Luncheons continues Wednesday, July 18th, at Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street South) in Hutchinson. The half-hour recitals are free and open to the public, with a salad and sandwich buffet lunch following. This week’s music will be by “The Hutchinson Brothers,” the founders of the city of Hutchinson. Brian Brosz, Jim Nelson and Paul Otte will appear in costume as Asa, Judson and John Hutchinson, singing the historic songs they were known for. The cost for the lunch is $7.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12 years of age.

    1. BL-H Area Lutheran Youth Pie & Ice Cream Social
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Buffalo Lake-Hector Lutheran Youth invite you to join them for pie and ice cream on Thursday, July 19th, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the Buffalo Lake Community Center (203 Main Street North). In addition to the pie and ice cream, they’ll also be serving root beer floats. The cost is a free will donation, with all proceeds going toward the 2015 mission trip. The BL-H Area Lutheran Youth are from Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, and from St. Paul’s Lutheran and First Lutheran Churches in Hector.

    2. Matthew 14:16 Supper and Movie Night
      5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) of Hutchinson will host its monthly Matthew 14:16 Supper on Friday, July 20th, beginning at 5:00 PM. The event offers a free, warm, nourishing meal, to anyone in the community. Following the supper, they’ll have their free family movie night, beginning at 6:30 PM. Come enjoy the movie as well as some free popcorn and lemonade.

    1. July 29 North Crow River Lutheran & Grace Lutheran Picnic
      10:00 am – 11:00 am

      The congregations of North Crow River Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church will have their annual picnic on Sunday, July 29tth, at Grace Lutheran Church (17225 30th Avenue NW), just west of French Lake. Activities will begin with an outdoor service at 10:00 AM with the potluck picnic immediately following the service. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair for the worship service although there will be folding chairs set up. In case of inclement weather the service and meal will be held indoors. The public is invited.

    2. July 29 St. Peter Lutheran Church Ice Cream Social
      3:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      St. Peter Lutheran Church (77 2nd Avenue South) of Lester Prairie will be hosting an Ice Cream Social, Country Store & Bake Sale on Sunday, July 29th, from 3:30 – 6:30 PM.  The menu will feature hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad, homemade pies, ice cream and root beer floats.

      The Senior LinkAge Line® will be offering a “Welcome to Medicare” Class on Tuesday, July 31st, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, at Meeker Memorial Hospital (612 South Sibley) in Litchfield. The class is for anyone who is going on Medicare in 2012, anyone who is confused about their benefits, or anyone who is a caregiver and is finding Medicare confusing.       Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Hutchinson will host its annual ice cream social on Thursday, August 2nd, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the church’s Activity Center (800 North Bluff Street). The menu will include turkey salad sandwiches, barbecues, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, pie and ice cream, root beer floats, coffee, lemonade, and more. Take out will also be available.

    1. August 4 Polo Match
      11:00 am – 4:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church of Watertown is sponsoring a Polo Match on Saturday, August 4th, from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the BlackBerg Ranch (1980 Sally Avenue) near Watertown. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children ($30.00 for a family). Food will be available on site from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM with the match beginning at 1:00 PM. Additional activities include the half-time divot stomp, a ladies’ hat contest, silent auction and many fun things for kids (games, face painting, etc.).

    1. Senior Citizens Day at Brown County Fair
      10:30 am – 11:30 am

      Senior Citizens Day at the Brown County Fair is scheduled for Thursday, August 9. A special program has been planned starting at 10:30am in the climate controlled New Ulm Civic Center building located at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Admission is free.

      This year the event will highlight The Amazing Hoopsters, a family that performs incredible hula hoop tricks in an upbeat, fun and energetic show for all ages.

      The morning event will also include pre-program music by the New Ulm Polka Band starting at 10am; as well as special senior recognition and presentation of the 2012 Brown County Century Farm recipients. Brown County Public Health will also be providing free blood pressure checks from 10-10:30am. In addition, compliments of the Brown County Fair Board, there will be juice, coffee and cookies served.

    1. August 10 Ridgewater Audio Club Fundraiser
      4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Audio Club of Ridgewater College will host its 3rd Annual Post Summer Apocalypse Fundraiser on Friday, August 10th. The outdoor music event will be at Library Square (50 Hassan Street) in Hutchinson from 4:00 – 9:00 PM. Five live bands – The BFD’s, Mother Earth, Electric Aquarium, Sense of Purpose and At Odds – are scheduled to perform. The is a free event to help raise funds for the Ridgewater Audio Club. There will be free will donation cans around the event, and Jake’s Pizza will be providing concessions.

    2. August 10 – 12 103rd Annual Gopher Campfire Outing
      5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The 103rd Annual Gopher Campfire Outing will be Friday through Sunday, August 10th -

      12th, on Lake Byron (7 miles north of Hutchinson). It kicks off Friday evening at 5:00 PM with

      the Minne-Rods Pull, followed by music from “The Rhythm Kings” starting at 8:30 PM. On

      Saturday, there are sporting clays, trap shooting, a steak fry from 5:00 – 8:00 PM (cost is $10.00) and more live music from “The Rhythm Kings.” Sunday’s events include a ham

      dinner from noon – 2:00 PM, a pedal pull starting at 2:00 PM, and the turtle races at 3:00 PM.

    1. August 11 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 10:00 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 11th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312 ) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    2. August 11 Beckville Lutheran Men’s Club Pork Chop Supper
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Men’s Club of Beckville Lutheran Church will serve its 3rd Annual Grilled Pork Chop Supper on Saturday, August 11th, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM at the Beckville Picnic Grounds on Lake Minnie Belle. In addition to the supper, there will be music by the Jerry Kahle Quartet. The Beckville Sunday School students will also be selling root beer floats for just $1.00. The cost is $9.00 for adults, $4.50 for kids ages 6 – 12, and children 5 years of age and younger eat for free. In case of rain, the supper will be at Beckville Lutheran Church (20521 600th Avenue), rural Litchfield.

    3. August 11 4th Annual BARK Kickball & Beanbag Tournament
      5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

      Brownton Area Resources for Kids (BARK) invites you to participate in the 4th Annual Kickball & Beanbag Tournament on Saturday, August 11th.  The day will begin with a 5K Fun Run/Walk.  The entry fee is $20.00, including a t-shirt.  At 9:00 AM, there’s a ½ mile fun run, free to all children ages 12 and younger.  You can pre-register your child(ren) for the fun run by sending an email to Steff at gronlund@hutchtel.net.  The kickball tournament will begin at 9:00 AM.  The cost for the kickball tournament is $130.00 per team.  The beanbag tournament will begin at 10:30 AM with an entry fee of $30.00.  Activities (all free) for the kids throughout the day include a scavenger hunt at 10:00 AM, a kickball tournament at noon, Clown Town from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, and pony rides from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  If you would like to pre-register a team for the kickball and beanbag tournaments, call Shannon or Michele at 320-328-4239.

    1. August 12 Community Bingo at Ecumen Oaks & Pines

      Area seniors are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, August 12th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Dining Room at the Ecumen Oaks & Pines (1015 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. The cost is 25 cents per card for each regular game. The last game will be a “cover all” game and will be $1.00 per card, winner takes all. Coffee and snacks will follow the fun!     1. August 13 Plato Lions Golf Tournament
      11:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Plato Lions annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, August 13th, at Glencoe Country Club (1325 1st Street East), with registration beginning at 11:00 AM and a shotgun start at 1:00 PM. The tournament is an 18-hole four-person scramble format. The cost is $40.00 for Glencoe Country Club members using their own carts, $50.00 for Glencoe Country Club members using club carts, and $60.00 for non-members. Entry fee includes dinner and prizes. Registration fees will increase by $10.00 per foursome after August 6th. To register, contact Ken at 320-238-2370 . All proceeds will support the Plato Lions local projects.

    2. August 14 Bloodmobile at Peace Lutheran Church

      The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Peace Center (400 Glen Street SW) of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson on Tuesday, August 14th, from noon – 6:00 PM. If you’re at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parental/guardian permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you’re encouraged to donate.     1. August 16 BL-H Area Lutheran Youth Drive-Up or Sit-In
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (228 5th Street NW) in Buffalo Lake will host the Buffalo Lake-Hector Area Lutheran Youth’s Drive-Up or Sit-In Fundraiser on Thursday, August 16th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. You’re invited to join them for a meal featuring cheeseburgers, hamburgers, hotdogs, French fries and rootbeer floats. All proceeds will go towards mission projects and the group’s trip to the 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering in Detroit. In addition, following the meal at 7:30 PM, they’ll be presenting “Our Journey with the Citizens of the Saints,” sharing their experiences at this year’s ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans. The BL-H Area Lutheran Youth is made of students from Zion Lutheran in Buffalo Lake, and St. Paul’s Lutheran and First Lutheran in Hector.

    2. August 16 Lake Marion Improvement Association Meeting
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The next meeting of the Lake Marion Improvement Association will be on Thursday, August 16th, beginning at 6:30 PM at the Brownton Rod & Gun Club (19151 108th Street). This will be the annual meeting and will include the election of officers, as well as a summer potluck picnic that is open to the public. Bring a dish to share and they’ll provide the chicken and beverages. Future meetings will be on the third Thursdays in January, April, June and August of 2013.       St. Andrew’s Catholic Church (17 1st Street NW) of Fairfax is holding its annual Fun Fest on Sunday, August 19th. The fun begins with a Polka Mass at 9:30 AM with music by Harry Wojahn and the St. Andrew’s Polka Singers. Following the service until 1:00 PM will be a dinner of deep fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, salads, and more.  The cost for the meal is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 6-12, and $2 for children under age 6. There will also be a lunch stand open from 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM serving authentic Mexican tacos, hot dogs, hamburgers, pies, and more.   Throughout the afternoon there will be music by Jeff Franta and activities including a country store and bingo.

    4. August 19 St. John’s Lutheran (Hollywood) Pork Chop Dinner
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      St. John’s Lutheran Church (17725 53rd Street) of Hollywood Township invites you to its 26th Annual Pork Chop Dinner on Sunday, August 19th, with serving from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, following the 9:30 AM contemporary worship service.
