    1. May 8th and May 9th The fluff and puff pillow cleaning service
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Lester Prairie American Auxiliary is sponsoring the Fluff and Puff Cleaning Service on Wednesday May 8th from 6– 8pm and also on May 9th from 7:30-3:30p.m. at the Lester Prairie City Hall. You can bring your pillows to be cleaned starting Wednesday night. Any questions you may call Maxium Almquist at 320-395-2219.

    1. May 9 PER Wives & Friends Salad Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The friends and wives of Past Exalted Rulers (PER) of the Hutchinson Elks are sponsoring a salad luncheon on Thursday, May 9th, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Hutchinson Elks Club (720 Highway 7 East). The cost is $7.00 per person. Please use the east door.

    2. The Grief Recovery Friends
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Grief Recovery Friends will be having their monthly meeting at the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson on May 9th at 6:30 pm.

    1. May 11 NALC Food Drive (all-day)
      May 11

      The annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive is on Saturday, May 11th. All of Hutchinson’s city and rural letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations that will be delivered to the McLeod County Food Shelf in Hutchinson. Please leave your donation next to your mailbox on May 11th and your letter carrier will pick it up.

    2. The Dassel Rod and Gun Club
      6:00 am – 11:00 am

      The Dassel Rod and Gun Club will be serving a Fishing Opener Breakfast on May 11th at the Sportsman’s Park on Lake Washington. Breakfast will be served from 6am to 11 am. The menu includes: French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Milk, Juice and Coffee. This is ALL YOU CAN EAT! Bring your Appetite! Adults — $7.00 with Children under 12 — $4.00.

    3. May 11 5K Walk/Run for Common Cup Ministry
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      A 5K Walk/Run to benefit Common Cup Ministry will be on Saturday, May 11th, at Masonic West River Park (1003 Les Kouba Parkway NW) in Hutchinson. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM, with the walk beginning at 10:00 AM and the run beginning at 10:30 AM. The cost is $20.00 per individual, $30.00 per couple, or $50 per family. Registration forms are available at the Common Cup Ministry Offices in Hutchinson and Glencoe, or online at www.common-cup.org. For more information, contact Ralph Johnson at 320-587-6733.

    4. May 11 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 11th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    1. Dementia Care/Lakeview Ranch
      9:30 am – 10:30 am

      Lakeview Ranch along with the Dementia Care Foundation will be sponsoring speaker: TEEPA SNOW, MS. OTR/L at two sessions on June 12th at the Dassel History Center which is located at 901 1st St. N, in Dassel. The two sessions are at 9:30 am and at 3:30pm. Teepa Snow is an Occupational Therapist currently working as a Dementia Care and Education Specialist. She works closely with assisted living and retirement communities. For more information you may call Wendy at the Dassel Ranch at 320-275-5517. Donations of $20.00 are being suggested.

      The Dementia Care Foundation and Lakeview Ranch are having 2 sessions on June 12th at the Dassel History Center, which is located at 901 1st St. N in Dassel at 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. Our speaker will be Teepa Snow, MS.OTR/L. Teepa Snow is an Occupational Therapist currently working as a Dementia Care and Education Specialist.For More Information, call Wendy at the Dassel Ranch at 320-275-5517.       The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary ,Post 143, will be holding the monthly meeting on Monday May 13th at 7:30 pm in the Brownton Community Center.

    1. May 14 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, May 14th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the public and is free of charge.       The Glencoe VFW Post 5102 (923 Chandler Avenue) Ladies Auxiliary invites the public to its annual Poppy Luncheon on Thursday, May 16th, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The menu will include turkey salad, Jell-O salad, pickles, roll, bars and coffee, all for just $7.00. Take out orders will be available. For delivery, call 320-864-5992.

    2. May 16 BLHS Elementary School Arts & Academic Fair
      4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Elementary School will host its Arts & Academic Fair, featuring an open house, barbecue supper and music programs. The event will be on Thursday, May 16th. The open house and barbecue supper will be from 4:30 – 7:30 PM, with the music being performed between 6:00 – 7:30 PM. The menu for the supper will include barbecues, chips, bars, cake, milk and coffee. The cost for the supper is $4.00.

      The Dassel-Cokato Performing Arts Center (4852 Reardon Avenue SW) will host an evening of bluegrass and gospel music on Friday, May 17th, beginning at 7:00 PM. Performing will be The Kingery Family, The Froemming Family, The Jorgensen Family, The Knudtson Family, The Mahlstedt Family, The Alzen Family and The Lee Gores Family.     1. May 19 Cedar Mills Gun Club Pancake Brunch

      You and your family are invited to the Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club (62841 140th Street) for their monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, May 19th, with serving from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Enjoy all-you-care-to-eat regular and potato pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs and more. The cost is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6 – 12 years of age, and those 5 and younger eat for free. The Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club is located near the intersection of State Highways 7 and 22 northeast of Cedar Mills.

      You and your family are all invited to an old time Gospel Sunday May 19th at 9:15 a.m. in the peace center at Peace Lutheran Church which is located at 400 Franklin St. SW in Hutchinson.

      You are invited to the Stewart City Hall for DAD’S BELGIAN WAFFLES on Sunday May 19th . Serving is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. They will be serving: Waffles, Sausage, Flavored Syrups and a Drink. It is a FREE WILL DONATION! Carry outs available! This is all you can eat, so bring your appetite! All proceeds go to the McLeod County Relay for Life American Cancer Society.

    1. May 21 Caregiver Support Group Meeting
      1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The next meeting of the Renville County Hospice Caregiver Support Group will be on Tuesday, May 21st, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in the Willette Room of RC Hospital & Clinics (611 East Fairview) in Olivia. The topic of this month’s meeting will be “Self-Care and Relaxation Motivation,” with Tanya Hanson, Massage Therapist with Tanya’s Healing Hands. The meeting is free of charge, and there will be time for discussion and support. Future meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of each month.       The bloodmobile will be in Brownton this Friday, May 24th at the Brownton Community Building. The hours will be from 2pm — 7pm. You may call Eunice Warner for an appt. at 320-328-4445. If no answer, leave a message. As an incentive, every donor who gives a pint of blood will be eligible to win a $1000 American Express Gift Card.

      Members of the Plato American Legion will be observing memorial day with a service starting at 9 am at the Plato Community Hall. Memorial Day Address will be given by Captain David Smith, and music will be by the Plato Community Chorus.

    2. May 27 Hutchinson Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
      9:30 am – 10:30 am

      Hutchinson VFW Post 906 and Hutchinson American Legion Post 96, along with their Auxiliaries, will observe Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony on Monday, May 27th. The parade will leave American Legion Post 96 at 9:30 AM and proceed north on Hassan Street to McLeod County Memorial Park. The program will begin at 10:00 AM. In case of inclement weather, the program will be in the auditorium at Riverside Assembly of God Church (20924 Highway 7 West) in Hutchinson.

    1. May 28 Senior Linkage Line Specialist at HEC
      10:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Senior Linkage Line, a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging, will have a specialist at the Hutchinson Event Center (1005 Highway 15 South) on Tuesday, May 28th, from 10:00 AM – noon. The specialist will assist seniors and answer questions about Medicare, Supplemental Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, prescription drugs and much more. The specialist will be at the Event Center the last Tuesday of each month. For more information, call the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800-333-2433.

      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You can help Hunger Free McLeod eliminate hunger by visiting the Dairy Queen (46 Main Street North) in Hutchinson on the first Monday of every month. Stop in and enjoy your DQ favorites between 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and they’ll donate 10 percent of all sales to Hunger Free McLeod. For more information, check out www.hungerfreemcleod.org.

      Trinity Lutheran Church (54384 Highway 12 East) in Grove City invites you to its Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 5th, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM. Enjoy barbecue or ham sandwiches, potato salad, potato chips, baked beans, pickles and, of course, pie and ice cream. The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 11 years of age and younger.       The Mcleod County Historical Society & Museum will be hosting an Author Program and a Book Signing of Scott Thoma who wrote the book,”Out of the Blue” on June 9th in the Museum Meeting Room from 2-3pm. This book is a true story of two sisters and their survival of one of the most powerful tornadoes in Minnesota. The museum is located at 380 School Road NW in Hutchinson.
