    1. October 4 Dorcas Mission Salad Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Dorcas Mission Salad Luncheon at Peace Lutheran Church’s Peace Center (400 Franklin Street SW) in Hutchinson will be on Thursday, October 4th, with serving from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The menu will feature hot chicken salad, hot German potato salad, deviled eggs and more. The cost for the luncheon is $8.00 per person.

    2. October 4 United Lutheran Church Fall Festival
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      United Lutheran Church (811 Lakeview Street) of Lake Lillian is hosting its Fall Festival on Thursday, October 4th. The Bake, Craft & Produce Sale will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, with a Meatball Supper served from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The menu will include meatballs, potatoes, coleslaw, vegetable, rolls, desserts and a beverage. The cost is $8.00 for adults, $3.00 for children ages 6 – 12, and free for kids 5 years of age and younger.

    3. October 4 Legion Auxiliary Spaghetti Supper
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Hutchinson American Legion Auxiliary will serve its monthly spaghetti supper on Thursday, October 4th, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM in the American Legion Post 96 Commander’s Room (please use east entrance). The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.00 for children 12 years of age and younger. All suppers are open to the public, families are welcome and take out orders will be available. Suppers are served the first Thursday of each month October through May. The Hutchinson American Legion is located at 35 3rd Avenue SE.

    1. October 9 Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of a local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will be on Tuesday, October 9th, beginning at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. The group meets the second Tuesday of every month, is open to the public and is free of charge. For more information, please contact Kristal Ehrke, Alzheimer’s Association volunteer facilitator, at (320) 583-1551 . In addition, information about Alzheimer’s disease and other support groups in the area can be obtained by calling the Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900 or www.alz.org/mnnd.

    2. October 9 Bras for a Cause at HCA
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Breast Cancer Support Group and the Hutchinson Center for the Arts (HCA) are teaming up to show support for women with breast cancer.  Decorated bras are on display at the HCA (15 Franklin Street SW) through October 9th, The public is asked to donate $1.00 per vote and vote for their favorite entries!  All donations will go to the local breast cancer support group to help offer support to women who are fighting this disease.  On October 9th, the winners will be announced.  The public is invited to attend the Bras for a Cause Reception at 7:00 PM on the 9th and bid on the winning bras which will be auctioned off that night.  For more information, check out www.HutchinsonArts.org.

    1. October 10 Vineyard United Methodist Turkey Dinner
      4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Vineyard United Methodist Church (1395 South Grade Road) in Hutchinson invites you to its Annual Turkey Dinner on Wednesday, October 10th, from 4:30 – 7:30 PM.  The cost for the dinner is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 4 – 10, and free for kids under 4 years of age.  Takeout orders will be available and, new for this year, a call ahead drive through service between 3:00 – 6:30 PM.  Just call ahead to 320-587-220 to place your order.  In conjunction with the dinner, a country store will be open to the public from noon – 7:00 PM.

    1. October 13 Free Community Breakfast at Bethlehem United Methodist Church
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      Bethlehem United Methodist Church (665 Miller Ave SW) in Hutchinson is offering a free, hot breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 13th. Everyone is welcome, and while there is no cost, they would appreciate it if you would contact the church (call 320-587-3312) to let them know how many will be attending. You may also pick up a ticket at Common Cup Ministry’s office (218 Main Street South) in Hutchinson. The free breakfast is served on the second Saturday of each month.

    2. October 13 Brunch and Special Program at Christ the King Lutheran
      9:00 am – 11:30 am

      Christ the King Lutheran Church (1040 South Grade Road) in Hutchinson invites you to a brunch and special program from 9:00 – 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 13th. The special program will be a narration from Ann Zemke telling the story of her grandmother, Marjorie Peterson, an orphan train rider, through blocks on the quilt Ann made in memory of Marjorie’s life. Ann will autograph her book, “They Named Me Marjorie”, following her presentation. A free-will offering will be taken. Ann Zemke, owner of Crocus Lane Quilts in Blaine, MN has made over 150 quilts and teaches quilting.

    1. October 14 Fall Harvest Turkey Dinner at Immanuel Lutheran
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Immanuel Lutheran Church (8374 8th Avenue) in New Auburn invites you to its Fall Harvest Turkey Dinner on Sunday, October 14th, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, following the 10:00 AM service. The menu will include roast turkey, real mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, corn or beans, coleslaw, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5 – 10, and free for kids under five years of age. Advance adult tickets are priced at $8.50 and may be purchased at Security Bank in New Auburn.

    2. October 14 Ham & French Toast Breakfast at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church
      12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

      St. Brendan’s Catholic Church (221 South McGrann) in Green Isle will host the annual Ham & French Toast Breakfast, sponsored by St. Arthur’s Council #10172 of the Knights of Columbus. The breakfast will be served from 8:00 AM – noon on Sunday, October 14th. The menu includes ham, French toast, applesauce, coffee, milk and orange juice. The cost is a free will offering.

    1. October 15 ECFE Relatives as Caregivers Event
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Hutchinson Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is hosting a Relatives as Caregivers event at the ECFE Building (775 School Road South) on Monday, October 15th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. This event is for all grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends who are doing full time care for children who are not their own. There will be a pizza supper and childcare.     1. October 20 Benefit for the Family of Nathan DeBolt
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      A benefit for the family of Nathan DeBolt, who passed away in August at age 33 from a severe asthma attack, is planned for Saturday, October 20th, in Cokato. Nathan left behind his wife Myndy and three children. The benefit will consist of a Zumbathon from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the Cokato Elementary School Gymnasium, a spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Cokato Evangelical Lutheran Church (280 3rd Street East), and then more fun at the Iron Horse Saloon beginning at 7:00 PM. Proceeds from the benefit will assist the family with their financial needs. If you’re unable to attend but would like to donate, a fund has been set up at First National Bank of Cokato.     1. October 17 – 19 St. Anastasia Rummage Sale
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson will be having a garage sale at the St. A’s School Auditorium (400 Lake Street) Wednesday – Friday, October 17th – 19th. Most items will be priced at 25¢. Winter coats/jackets will be priced at $1.00 each. Friday will be $2.00 bag day. You’ll find a little bit of everything at this sale – clothing/shoes of all sizes/all seasons, household/miscellaneous items, jewelry, baby items, toys, games, books, magazines, bedding, miscellaneous furniture, pet items and more. Wednesday’s and Thursday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Friday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Everything will be priced to sell.

    2. October 17 Senior Dance at Hutchinson Event Center
      1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The October Senior Dance at the Hutchinson Event Center (1005 Highway 15 South), featuring the Riverside Dutchmen, will be on Wednesday, October 17th, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.  The cost is $6.00 per person with a light lunch served after the dance.  The dance is open to the public.

    3. October 17 McLeod Senior Citizens Meeting
      1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

      The quarterly McLeod Senior Citizens meeting will be Wednesday, October 17th, starting at 1:30 PM at Glencoe City Center (719 13th Street East). The facility is handicapped accessible. Please enter through the east door. Come for an afternoon of fun and socializing.

    1. October 19 First Congregational UCC Rummage Sale
      8:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The First Congregational United Church of Christ (31 4th Avenue SW) in Hutchinson will have a rummage sale on Friday, October 19th, from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  All items will be priced at 50¢ (unless otherwise marked).  Starting at noon, all items will be priced at 25¢, and after 1:00 PM, it’s just $1.00 for everything you can stuff in a bag.  Coffee and cookies will be available while you shop.

    2. November 3 Lutefisk & Swedish Meatball Supper
      9:15 am – 10:15 am

      Scandian Grove Lutheran Church (42869 County Road 52) of Norseland (10 miles west of St. Peter on Highway 22 and one-half mile north on County Road 52) invites you to its Lutefisk & Swedish Meatball Fall Supper on Saturday, November 3rd. There will be two serving times, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. The menu includes lutefisk, melted butter, white sauce, meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and carrots, lefse, breads, cranberry sauce, apple and pumpkin desserts, milk and coffee. The cost is $15.00 for adults, $6.00 for children ages 6 – 12, and free for kids 5 years of age and younger. Take out orders will be available.

      Our Savior’s Lutheran School (800 North Bluff Street) in Hutchinson invites you to a fish fry on Friday, October 19th, with serving from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM or until the fish are gone. The cost for the meal is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 6 – 13, and free for kids under 5 years of age and younger. Take out orders will be available.     4. October 19 Matthew 14:16 Supper and Free Movie Night at Peace Lutheran Church
      4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) of Hutchinson will host its monthly Matthew 14:16 Supper on Friday, October 19th, beginning at 5:00 PM. The event offers a free, warm, nourishing meal, to anyone in the community. Following the supper, they’ll have their free family movie night, beginning at 6:30 PM. Come enjoy the movie as well as some free popcorn and lemonade.

      You and your family are invited to the Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club (62841 140th Street) for their monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, October 21st, with serving from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Enjoy all-you-care-to-eat regular and potato pancakes, French toast, scramble eggs and more.       The monthly Bouja & Chicken Noodle Soup Sale at St. Anthony’s Church (170 Meeker Avenue South) in Watkins is on Sunday, October 21st, with sale hours from 8:30 AM – noon. Bouja is priced at $11.00 gallon and chicken noodle soup is $10.00 per gallon.

      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. John Lutheran Church of Hollywood (17725 53rd Street), rural New Germany, will have its Chili/Soup Luncheon & Bake Sale on Saturday, October 22nd, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Everyone is welcome.

    2. October 22 Bloodmobile in Cokato
      1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Cokato on Monday, October 22nd, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (395 Broadway Avenue North). This blood drive will be for all blood types.  If you’re at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parental/guardian permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and in good health, you’re encouraged to donate.     1. October 23 ISD 423 Relicensure Committee Meeting
      4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      The Relicensure Committee of Hutchinson School District #423 will be meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd. The meeting will begin at 4:00 PM in the Media Center of West Elementary School (875 School Road SW). Other meeting dates for the school year are: January 10th, March 26th, and May 28th.

    1. October 26 & 27 Silver Lake K of C Paper Drive
      7:00 am – 7:00 pm

      The Silver Lake Knights of Columbus Mother Cabrini Council #1841 is holding a paper drive on Friday and Saturday, October 26th and 27th, with drop off times of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM both days. The trailer is located on the north side of Holy Family Catholic Church (720 Main Street West) in Silver Lake. Items collected include newspapers, paper grocery bags, cardboard boxes, paper egg cartons, telephone books, catalogs and magazines. Please put newspapers in paper bags or boxes. Do not bundle with twine or string. The profits from this paper drive will go to the Silver Lake Winter Festival and Cedar Crest of Silver Lake Activities Fun.     1. October 27 The Bumps Stop Here Relay for Life Team Event
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The Bumps Stop Here Relay for Life Team is sponsoring a holiday vendor, craft and bake sale on Saturday, October 27th, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at First Lutheran Church (925 13th Street East) in Glencoe. Lunch will be available, door prizes will be given away every ½ hour and there will be a goodie bag given to the first 100 people. A percentage of all sales will go to the American Cancer Society.

    2. October 27 – Fall Bazaar at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (300 Croyden Street) in Stewart will have its Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 27th, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The luncheon will feature homemade beef soup, hot turkey and barbecue sandwiches, pie and coffee. The bazaar will also include crafts on display and for sale, garden produce for sale, a bake sale, and a country store.

    3. October 27 Chili/Soup Luncheon at St. John Lutheran
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Hutchinson VFW Post 906 (247 1st Avenue SE) invites you to its monthly Potato Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 28th, with serving from 9:00 AM – noon. Enjoy all you can eat pancakes, ham, sausages and fruit for only $8.00. The breakfast is served on the fourth Sunday of each month.

    2. October 28 German Dinner at Immanuel Lutheran Church

      Immanuel Lutheran Church (700 Division Street East) in Brownton invites you to its 29th Annual German Dinner on Sunday, October 28th, with serving from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM. The dinner will follow a Polka Service with Chuck Thiel at 9:00 AM. The menu includes brats, meatballs, glazed carrots, real mashed potatoes and gravy, German potato salad and sauerkraut. Tickets are $9.00, $5.00 for children ages 6 – 10, and free for preschoolers. Takeout orders will be available. Tickets will be on sale on Sunday, October 28th, from 8:30 – 9:00 AM and after the worship service.
