    1. Backpack Giveaway
      12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      There is a free Backpack for Kids Giveaway on Saturday, July 30th from Noon-3 pm at Verizon in Hutchinson. There will be a select amount of school supplies inside the pack for kids, and kids MUST be present to receive a backpack.

    1. St. Peter Lutheran Church (LP) Ice Cream Social
      3:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      St. Peter Lutheran Church of Lester Prairie is sponsoring its 48th Annual Ice Cream Social & Country Store on Sunday, July 31st, from 3:30 – 6:30 PM. The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecues, baked beans, potato salad, homemade pies, ice cream, root beer floats and more. Take out orders will be available.

    1. Outdoor Community Service
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      Faith Presbyterian Church and Grace Bible Church of Silver Lake  will be hosting an Outdoor Community Worship Service in the Silver Lake City Park on Sunday, August 7 from 9:00 AM—10:00 AM. The public is invited to attend. In the event of inclement weather the service will be held at the Grace Bible Church (next to the city water tower).

      You are invited to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Hector for their Salad Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug 3 at Noon. Carly Koeberl will speak about her mission trip to Belize. Cost is a free will donation.

      Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Hutchinson invites you to their annual Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 4th from 4-6:30 pm. Serving Turkey Salad Sandwiches, BBQ’s, Hot Dogs, potato salad, Baked Beans, pie and Ice Cream and more! Take out available.

      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The Granite Kitty Cat Club is holding their Purr-ple Rain Cat Show on August 6th and 7th at the Cologne Community Center from 9a-3p. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for Seniors and Children, Under 5 is free.

    1. Living History Tour
      2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church of Hutchinson has their Living History Cemetery Tour on Sunday, Aug 7th from 2-3:30 pm. 5 Living History Portrayals: Wallace “Wally” Kurth, Rev Richard Raedeke, Clara Laurene “Tot” Marth, George Boller, and Milburn “Dick” Henke. Busses will transport you from the church parking lot and there is no charge for the bus. Everyone is welcome.

      The Hutchinson Womens 600 Club has their Fall Meeting on Monday, Aug 8th at 5:30 pm at Squeaky’s Bar and Grill. Agenda includes dicussion on changing 2016 fall local tournament date.

      The Sibley County Chapter of Thrivent Financial is taking a bus to the Twins vs. Astros Game on Wednesday, Aug 10th. Cost is $27, Contact Joyce Bauer for more info (507-237-5562)

    2. August Community Dinner
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Brownton Congregational Church will hold their Community Dinner on Wednesday, August 10th from 5-7 pm with a free will offering. The Dinner is hosted the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

    1. Puppet Show
      10:00 am – 11:30 am

      Friends of the Hutchinson Library present their Puppet Show on Thursday, Aug 11th at Library Square in Hutchinson at 10 am. This year’s Show is the “Wonderfully Completely Improbably Silly Wizard of Oz”

    2. Mission BBQ
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove City is hosting a Mission BBQ on Thursday, Aug 11th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Serving BBQ Pork, Potato Salad, Sweet Corn and more! You can also enjoy a Meat Raffle, Bingo, Root Beer Floats, Basket Raffles and a Fishing Pond. Adults are $8 in advance, Students are $4…add $1 to tickets purchased at the door. Proceeds benefit Meeker County Food Shelf and Lion’s Club International Vision and Hearing.

      You’re invited to Winsted’s Night Out on Thursday, Aug 11th at Mill Reserve Park. Activities, Games, Food and Beverages start at 6 pm…Music in the Park at 7 pm featuring the group “Pushing Chain”

      Music in  the Winthrop City park Thursday August 11th at 7:00. with the Wendinger Band.  Refreshments available and prizes given that have been donated by  the Winthrop businesses.  In case of rain the event will move to Hahn’s Dining. Bring your lawn chair.

      7:30 am – 8:30 am

      Mcleod for Tomorrow is looking for participants in their Leadership Program. The Program runs from September through May, one day per month. The program is designed to improve a person’s personal leadership, Communication, and Team Skills. Deadline to sign up is August 12th.     2. Brownton Corn Feed and Pedal Pull
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Brownton Lions are sponsoring the Annual Brownton Corn Feed and Pedal Pull on Friday, August 12th at the Brownton Community Center. Serving from 5-7pm or until corn is gone. Tickets are $5 for ages 13 & up, $2 for ages 6 – 12 and free for children 5 and under. There will be a kids pedal pull at 7pm with registration starting at 6:30pm. Volunteers are needed to husk corn at 1pm in the city park on that day.

      You are invited to Darwin’s Twine Ball Celebration on Saturday, Aug 13th. The Twine Ball Breakfast is from 8-10 am at All Saints Lutheran Church for $7, along with the Twine Ball Carnival from 8a-11:30 am also at the church. Fun for adults and children…Games, Snacks, Drinks…Everything is $1.

    2. Music in the Plato Park
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Music in the Plato Park is coming up Thursday, Aug 18th from 4-7 pm. Music by the Rev Brian Brosz, Stoney Point Musicians, and Elmer Howe. The Plato Lions are serving Pork Burgers, Beans and more. Proceeds go to local projects.

      You are invited to join the fun at St. Andrew’s Fun Fest on Sunday, August 21st in Fairfax. Mass at 9:30 am with music by St. A’s Polkateers. Deed Fried Chicken Dinner served from 10:30a-1p. Adults are $11, Children (5-10) are $5, and under 5 is free. You can also take part in afternoon music, raffle tickets, games, and much more! Join them for a Sunday of Fun!

    2. Pork Chop Dinner
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      St. John Lutheran Church of Hollywood is hosting their 30th annual Pork Chop Dinner on Sunday, August 21st from 11a-2p. Serving Pork Chops, Scalloped Potatoes, Sauerkraut, Corn, and more! Tickets are $10 for adults in advance, $11 at the door, Children 5-11 are $5, and 4 and under are free.

    3. Sunday Funday
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      Everyone is invited to a new event at Minnesota Pioneer Park in Annandale on Sunday, August 21. On  Sunday Funday  from 11-3, park visitors can enjoy a grilled  pork chop meal, listen to a live band playing country, bluegrass, and variety music, feel the country atmosphere of  tractor-pulled wagon rides around the grounds, have the chance to win prizes in free drawings, and tour the more than 20 buildings with historical displays. Cost of the pork chop meal is $8. In addition ice cream, hot dogs, and other refreshments will be available. Gate admission is only $2.

    4. Fish Boil Dinner
      11:30 am – 1:00 pm

      The First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glencoe is hosting their Fish Boil Dinner on Sunday, Aug 21st from 11:30a-1p. Serving Pollack, Potatoes, Cole Slaw and more for a Free Will Donation. Proceeds go to the Orphan Grain Train.

    1. Capitol Restoration Meeting
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Minnesotans are invited to learn about the historic Minnesota State Capitol Restoration Project with a behind-the-scenes presentation by Commissioner Matt Massman of the Department of Administration. The event will be held at the McLeod County Historical Society on Monday, August 22, 5:30 p.m. This free event is a great opportunity for local residents to see the transformation in process, including marble carving, fine-art conservation, decorative painting restoration, and construction on a grand scale, as well as a first look at the new and expanded public spaces.

      St. John’s Lutheran Church of Annandale is having a Garden Salad and Hotdish Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug 24th from 11a-1p. Tickets are $8 for adults, Children 10 and under are $3.

      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Oak Heights Covenant Church is holding their annual Tent Revival on August 26-28th. Tent opens at 6 pm each night with Complimentary Refreshments, Service is at 6:30 pm. On Friday night, it’s God and Country Night with Patrioti Music, Testimonies, a Bonfire, and Evangelist David Sommerdorf. Saturday it’s Bluegrass Night with Blue Grass Music, Testimonies, Bonfire, The Christian Motorcycle Association, and Evangelist David Sommerdorf. On Sunday, it’s Music and A message from the Chancellors Quartet Southern Gospel Group. Everyone is welcome, free admission.

    1. Fall Firearms Safety Class
      6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      Gopher Campfire Club is holding their Fall Firearms Safety Class starting Sept. 1st from 6-9 pm. The class is open to Boys and Girls ages 11 and older. Class size is limited so sign up early. Cost is $15, half to Gopher Campfire, the other half to the MN DNR. Must attend all three classes to get certified. Reserve a spot by emailing Brian at schmelingoil@gmail.com
