  1. Feb

    1. Flapjack Festival
      8:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Hector Lions Club is having their annual Flapjack Festival on Sunday, Feb 8th from 8a-Noon at the American Bar and Grill of Hector.  Free will donation for Flapjacks and toppings, French Toast, Sausage, and Beverage.  Proceeds support BLHS School Safety Patrol.

    2. Pancake Breakfast
      8:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Elks is having their all you can eat Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Feb 8th from 8a-Noon.  Cost is $7 for Pancakes, Eggs, Ham, Sausage, Fruit, and more.  Proceeds benefit the community.  

    3. Fishing Contest
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club is having it’s annual Free Fishing Contest Sunday, Feb 8th from 2-4 pm on Brooks Lake in Cokato.  Raffle tickets can be purchased from club members in advance or at the contest for $1 each for a chance at cash and merchandise prizes. There is a Junior and Senior class for the fishing contest and there will be a lunch wagon on site.  They will have some free minnows and can drill your holes.  Bring out the whole family for some fun and excitement.  Brooks Lake is located North of Hwy 12 on Johnson Ave N in Cokato.  Info…Contact Dave 612-670-1916 or Tim 320-980-0460

    4. Schafskopf Tournament
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      The 42nd annual Schafskopf Tournament will be held Sunday, Feb 8th at the Brownton Community Center.  Donation Tickets are $1 and you need not be present to win.

    5. Turkey Hunting Seminar
      12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

      Grace Bible Church of Silver Lake will be hosting a special Outdoor Club Meeting on Sunday, February 8, at 2:30 pm at the church.  This free informal get-together is titled Turkey Hunting 101and will include sharing by Rodney Schmidt and Dr. Tom Rakow. Turkey Hunting 101 is especially designed for the person who wants to know how to get started turkey hunting, or who wants to pick up some helpful tips from others.  The seminar will last about an hour and includes a brief devotional time, presentation on the topic, and a time for input and questions. Anyone any age is invited, and there is no charge.  

    6. Night with Taya Kyle
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      Beth El Synagogue of St. Louis Park presents an evening with Taya Kyle and Jim DeFelice on Sunday, Feb 8th at 7 pm.  Taya’s late husband was Navy SEAL and Author Chris Kyle.  Taya regularly speaks to audiences across the country about the challenges facing veterans, first responders and their families. She also talks about the value of knowing who you are, what you believe in and standing strong for it.  Tickets available online at besyn.org

    1. Parent Seminar
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The GSL ECFE is having another parent seminar on Monday, Feb 9th from 7-8 pm featuring Sue Magnuson, GSL HS Counselor.  This seminar with explore the topics of emotional health for child development, as well as communication between parents and children.  A portion of the session will be devoted to questions/answers. Nominal fee applies.  Continuing Education credit/certificates available.  To register contact ECFE by phone on through their website.

      Brownton American Legion and Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 pm at the Brownton Community Center on Monday, Feb 9th.

      The Next Senior Dance at the Cosmos Legion is Wednesday, Feb 11th from 1:30-4:30 pm featuring music by Michael James.  

    2. Family Style Turkey Supper
      4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Zion United Methodist Church of Buffalo Lake invites you to their annual Family Style Turkey Supper on Wednesday, Feb 11th from 4:30-7:30 pm.  Eat in or Take Out, Tickets are $9 in advance, $10 at the door, 5-11 yrs old are $5,and Preschool age is free.

      The Cosmos Legion is having their Valentines Supper on Saturday, Feb 14th from 5-8 pm.  Serving Prime Rib, Ribs, or Shrimp.

    1. Bethel Women of ELCA Soup Supper
      5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      The Bethel Women of ELCA, Lester Prairie, will be serving an Ash Wednesday Soup Supper on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 5;30 – 6:30PM.  The menu will include three kinds of soup: homemade chili, chicken wild rice, and a surprise soup, plus crackers, buttered bread, and an assortment of bars and beverages.  The suggested donation is $6.00 for adults for all you can eat.  Donations will go to support the many ministries at Bethel Lutheran Church.  After the supper, join them for worship at 7:00 PM.

      The Plato Fish Fry will be on Friday, Feb 20th, starting at 3 pm at the Plato Community Hall.  Adults are $10, Children are $4, and preschool is Free.  Take Outs available.

    1. BLHS FFA Fishing Tournament
      2:45 pm – 7:00 pm

      The BLHS FFA is having their Ice Fishing Contest on Saturday, Feb 21st on Lake Allie, near Buffalo Lake.  Registration begins at 2:45 pm, Fishing from 3-7 pm.  Cost is $5 per hole, with prizes given out to the top three youth and adult fishermen.  There is also a cash raffle at the event.  

    2. Benefit for Kay Selle
      4:00 pm – 11:00 pm

      You’re invited to a benefit for Kay Selle on Saturday, Feb 21st from 4-11pm at the Hideaway in New Auburn.  Roast Pork Dinner served from 4:30-7 pm, Bake Sale and Silent Auction from 4-8:30 pm. Proceeds benefit Kay’s medical expenses.

      St. John’s Lutheran Church of Plato is having their Pancake Dinner on Sunday, Feb 22nd, serving from 10:30a-1p.  All you can eat Pancakes, Ham, Applesauce and more.  Take outs are available.  Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for those 5-12, and under 4 is free.  Proceeds support Heifer International.

      The GSL ECFE is having a Parent Seminar on Monday, Feb 23rd from 7-8 pm featuring GSL Kindergarten teachers.  What does my child need to need to know before kindergarten? When should I start preparing my child?     2. Korean War Vet Meeting
      1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      A second round of Benefit Seminars for Korean War Era Veterans and their spouses will be hosted by McLeod County Veteran Services on Thursday Feb 26th at both 1pm & 5pm at the McLeod County Solid Waste Facility in Hutchinson. For details, contact Veteran Services at (320)864-1268.

    3. Agri Business Seminar

      The Hutchinson Agri Business Seminar will be held on Thursday, Feb 26th from 5:30-9 pm at the Crow River Winery in Huchinson.  Speakers include: Bret Oelke on creating a competitive advantage through management of production costs – Michael Dove and Jeff Braegelmann on avoiding legal pitfalls in Ag Business – and Nathan Winter, Extension Educator on a farm bill update.  Tickets are $40 (for 2 persons), contact 587-5252 for Tickets.

      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Join team hunt for a cure at a wine tasting party on Friday, Feb 27th from 5-8 pm at the Crow River Winery.  Cost is $10, proceeds go to the team participating in the walk for cancer this summer. 

    2. DC Community Theatre
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The DC Community Theatre Presents “the Romancers”.  Six performances are scheduled in the Dassel History Center and Ergot Museum, Dassel.   3 Evening Dessert Performances: Friday Feb 27, Saturday Feb 28 and Friday March 16, 7:00 p.m.  2 Matinee Dessert Performances: Sundays, March 1 and 8, 2:00 p.m. and one Dinner Theatre Performance: Saturday, March 7, 6:00 p.m.  All seats are general admission. Tickets are available online at www.dc.k12.mn.us/pac ; by phone at 320-286-4120; in person at the Community Education office at the Dassel-Cokato High School; and at the door prior to each performance, if tickets are still available.

    1. Juvenile Diabetes Fundraiser
      9:00 am – 2:00 pm

      The 5th annual Juvenile Diabetes Spring into a Cure fundraiser will be on Saturday Feb 28th at the Blue Note Ballroom in Winsted from 9a-2p.  Shop the many craft booths or vendors, Kids will have activites, and you can listen to live music from the Total Country Band.  You can also shope the bake sale, and get your easter portraits taken.  For more info search for “Juvenile Diabetes Fundraiser” on facebook.  

    2. Bowl a thon for Special Olympics
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      The Aspiring Insurance Professionals are hosting a Bowl a Thon at Lake Bowl in Howard Lake to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota’s Young Athletes Program.  The event is on Saturday, Feb 28th starting at 11 am.  $40 registration fee gets you two bowling games, shoe rental, pizza, and pop.  Bowl with a team or by yourself!  Prizes award to top team and individual.  Contact Nicole at 320-286-4416 to sign up for for info.  

    3. Fish Fry

      The High Island lake Conservation club invites you to their annual Fish Fry on Saturday, Feb 28th at the New Auburn City Hall.  Serving from 11a-8p Family Style, All you care to eat.  Cost is $11 for adults, $5 for Children ages 6-10, and 5 and under are free.  Take outs available until 6 pm.

      You are invited to a Cancer Benefit for Barb Milbrett on Sunday, March 1st from 10:30a-2 pm in the BLHS HS Cafeteria.  Serving a home cooked Swedish meatball dinner prepared by friends of Barb.  Also take part in the silent auction.  

    2. Glencoe Bridal Expo
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The 2015 Glencoe Bridal Expo will be held on Sunday, March 1st from 11 am-3 pm at the Glencoe City Center.  There will be a variety of vendors ready to help in planning every aspect of your wedding from the bridal shower to the honeymoon to the thank you cards.  Plus there is a fashion show at 1:30 pm

      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      March 2nd and 3rd join the MS Walk Hutchinson Committee at the Hutchinson Mall for their 3rd annual Bake Sale and MS Awareness Booth from 10a-2p, then on Wednesday, March 3rd at the Hutchinson Health Clinic from 11a-1p.
