  1. Dec

    1. Holiday Fundraisers
      1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

      You are invited to two holiday fundraisers.  “A Cup of Christmas Tea” will be performed Sunday, Dec 7th at 1 pm in the Hotel Jorgensen Lobby.  The next night, Monday, Dec 8th, will be the “Awaken the Holiday Spirit” Dinner at Zellas Restaurant.

    2. BASICS Holiday Concert
      3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The BASICS invite you to their holiday concert on Sunday, Dec 7th, 3 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stewart.  A free will donation lunch will follow the concert.  

    3. CRAYO and CR Singers Concert
      4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

      The Crow River Area Youth Orchestra and the Crow River Singers present Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, Dec 7th at the Hutchinson HS Auditorium at 4 pm.  Tickets available at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for Seniors and Students.  More info at crayo.org

    1. Christmas Volunteers
      9:00 am – 6:30 pm

      The Mcleod County Christmas Project is looking for volunteers to help at the site sorting, accepting donations, organizing, and more.  Dates needed are: Dec 8th from 9a-noon – Dec 9th and 11th from 10a-3p – Dec 10th, 12th, and 15th from 8a-Noon – Dec 16th from 8a-7:30p – and Dec 17th from Noon-6:30 pm.  Contact Veronica at Mcleod County Social Services for info.  

    2. Brownton Legion meeting
      7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Brownton American Legion and Auxiliary will have their regular Christmas Meeting on Monday, Dec 8th at 7:30 pm at the Brownton Community Center.

      1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

      The next Senior Dance at the Cosmos Legion will be Wednesday, Dec 10th from 1:30-4:30 pm.  Music is by Marie and the Boys.

    1. Pizza and Play event
      6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Glencoe Silver Lake ECFE is hosting a Pizza and Play event on Friday, Dec 12th from 6-7:30 pm.  The event is for Kids (and their families) from Toddler to Kindergarten.  It’s an opportunity to have some pizza and get active in a number of fun activities.  Preregistration required, Cost is free, but they encourage you to bring a new unwrapped toy for needy children.

    1. Plato Lions Brunch
      8:30 am – 11:30 am

      The Plato Lions are having their Christmas Brunch on Saturday, Dec 13th at the Plato Hall from 8:30a-11:30a.  All you can eat sausage, eggs, pancakes and more!  Kids can come and see Santa!

    2. Christmas Market
      9:00 am – 4:00 pm

      St. Anastasia Church of Hutchinson has their Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec 13th from 9a-4p.  Enjoy the Christmas Tea Party, Craft/Gift/Bake Sale, Quilt Show, and Silent Auction.  A light breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.  Proceeds go to the San Lucas Toliman Mission.  

    3. HOMN Animal Shelter Bake Sale
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      The Heart of MN Animal Shelter invites you to their holiday bake sale on Saturday, Dec 13th at the Hutchinson Mall.  Sale starts at 9 am and runs until sold out.  

    4. Songs of Christmas Past
      7:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The Litchfield Opera House presents Songs of Christmas Past with Ervin George Asmus.  Two Shows…Saturday Dec 13th at 7 pm, and Sunday, Dec 14th at 2 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults, Children 12 and under are $5, Under 5 is free.  Proceeds benefit restoring the Opera House.

    1. Vikings Tailgate Party
      11:00 am – 3:30 pm

      Gopher Campfire Club is having a MN Vikings Tailgate Party on Sunday, Dec 14th at their Club.  Your $20 ticket includes all the food and beverage you care to have.  Doors open at 11 am, Raffles also being held for a big screen TV and cash prizes.  

    2. Advent Lunch/sing along
      11:15 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Peter Lutheran Church of Lester prairie has their Advent Lunch, Get Together, and Carol sing on Sunday, Dec 14th from 11:15a-1p.  Everyone is invited to the Potluck Meal, followed by the old fashioned Christmas carol sing along.  You can also bid on the silent auction, and shop the holiday store.  

    3. Ice Fishing Seminar
      2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

      The Grace Bible Church of Silver lake is hosting an informational seminar titled “Ice Fishing and Spearing” on Sunday, Dec 14th starting at 2 pm.  Dr. Tom McCracken and Jason Walz lead the discussion.  This Outdoor get-together will include a brief devotional time, and will explain what type of equipment is needed, safety tips, places to go, and more. Anyone any age is invited to attend, and there is no charge.

    4. Cowboy Christmas
      5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The Grace Bible Church of Silver Lake and the Living Water Puppets presents the Christmas musical “A Cowboy Christmas” on Sunday, Dec 14th starting at 5 pm.  No charge, everyone is welcome.

    5. Country Christmas
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Brownton Congregational Church is hosting a Country Christmas at 7 pm on Sunday, Dec 14th featuring the Ragtown Band.  Refreshments will follow.

    1. Tim Orth Foundation accepting applications
      8:30 am – 9:30 am

      The Tim Orth Foundation is accepting applications for their annual Spring Basketball benefit game.  The TOF is designed to help young people who are ill and in need of assistance paying for their medical treatment.  Applications will be accepted until December 29th.  You can obtain an application by calling Ralph at 320-587-6733 or Don at 320-864-6010.

    1. Holiday Outreach Dinner
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Hutchinson REACH program will be holding their annual Holiday Outreach Dinner on Thursday, Dec 18th from 6-7 pm at Peace Lutheran Church.  The dinner is open to anyone needing a warm meal, a time to celebrate, and an atmosphere of HOPE.  Must have a Ticket to attend, but Free Tickets are available at Common Cup Ministry or Peace Lutheran Church.

    1. Lunch with Santa
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      It’s Lunch with Santa on Saturday, Dec 20th from 11a-2p at the Mcleod County Fairgrounds.  The event is free to families with children of charge courtesy of the Foundation for Challenged Children.  

    2. Silver Lake Winter Festival
      12:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The Silver Lake Winter Festival will be Saturday, Dec 20th from 12:30-3 pm at the Silver Lake Auditorium.  Free Sandwiches, Sleigh Rides, Music and more!  See the Reindeer and take a photo with them, plus meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Kids can take part in the coloring contest.  

    3. Glencoe Living Nativity
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      On Saturday, Dec 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, come and visit a Living Nativity at Oak Leaf Park in Glencoe.  Presented by Glencoe Area Churches, this is a drive-thru production, featuring six scenes depicting the Good News of Jesus’ birth.  Live animals, crafted scenery, biblical characters and music provide a memorable Christmas experience.  Admission is free; however donations of food or money will be collected for the McLeod Emergency Food Shelf.

      The Glencoe American Legion will be bussing tables at Unhinged Pizza on Monday, Dec 22nd from 4-8 pm.  Proceeds from Tips and food will benefit the Legion.

    1. Movie for the Food Shelf
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Century 9 Theatres in Hutchinson is having a benefit for the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf on Wednesday, Dec 24th.  They will show the movie White Christmas at 11 am and 2 pm.  Free Showings, Cider, Coffee, and Cookies.  Just bring an item for the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf.

    1. Auditions for DC Community Theatre
      11:00 am – 6:00 pm

      Auditions for the DC Community Theatre production of “The Romancers” will take place Saturday, Jan 3rd at 11 am, and Monday, Jan 5th at 6 pm at the Dassel History Center.  Those interested are welcome to come to either audition time and should bring their calendar and winter conflict schedule. Wear clothing that will give you freedom of movement as you may be asked to do some simple fight choreography or basic fencing moves.  If unable to attend either date, or if you have any questions, contact Production Assistant Deborah Moen at 612-236-5137.Those interested in helping with set construction or behind the scenes should contact Deborah Moen.

    1. Cokato Museum Open House
      1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Cokato Museum & Historical Society invites the public for its 15th Annual New Year’s Open House on Sunday, January 4, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The open house will take place in the Centennial Room of the library/museum building.  At this open house the Finnish custom of “melting tin” will be demonstrated.
