  1. Jul

    1. 3M Retiree Lunch
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The monthly 3M Retiree Luncheon for this month will be on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at the Red Goat Restaurant in Cokato.  This is a change in location from what was published in the 3M Megaphone.  The luncheon is held the second Wednesday of every month.

    2. Noon Recital Series at Peace Lutheran
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin St. SW) in Hutchinson is once again hosting its summer Wednesday Noon Recital Series.  On Wednesday, July 9, music will be provided by Stoney Point, consisting of Brian Brosz, Lucy Newcomb and Robin Kashuba.  The half-hour recitals are free and open to the public.  A salad and lunch buffet lunch will be served following the recitals.  Lunch is $7.00 for adults, and $2.00 for children under 12.

    3. Cosmos Senior Dance
      1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

      The Next Senior Dance at the Cosmos Legion will be Wednesday, July 9th from 1:30-4:30 pm.  Music by Vern Black.  A light lunch follows the music.

    1. Fiber Arts Guild
      1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Fiber Arts Guild is meeting on Thursday, July 10th at the Hutchinson Center for the Arts from 1-4 pm.  This month it’s Fiber Weaving with Joy Gerard.  Cost is $10 for Non Members, $5 for Members.

    1. Gibbon Concert
      7:15 pm – 8:45 pm

      The Gibbon Area Uncommon Band of Renown continues its 2014 Summer Season with a Community Concert in Gibbon City Park on Friday, July 11th, beginning at 7:15 pm. Members of Augustana Church begin serving food at 6pm, including BBQ’s, root beer floats, pies and brownie sundaes!

    1. Garden Tour and Salad Luncheon
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      Faith Lutheran Church Garden Tour & Salad Luncheon will be Saturday July 12.  Luncheon is from 11 am to 1pm, Self Guided Garden Tour 9 am to  3 pm (Get a Map with tickets).  Tickets $10 for Adults, $5 for Youth.  Tickets available at Faith Lutheran Church.

    1. White Squirrel Festival in Plato
      8:30 am – 1:00 pm

      Plato’s White Squirrel Festival is planned for Sunday, July 13th.  The activities begin with the Omelet Brunch served from 8:30 AM – noon.  Also from 8:30 AM – noon, it’s St. Paul’s UCC Silent Auction at the Plato Hall.  The Community Church Service featuring the Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir is at 9:30 AM.  Other activities include a performance of the Hutchinson Clown Club at 10:30 and the duck races at 1:00 PM.  Hamburgers and hotdogs will available in the City Park from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. 

    2. GI Salad Luncheon
      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Green Isle is having a Salad Luncheon on Sunday, July 13th from 10:30a-1p at the church.  On the menu is Salads, BBQ’s, Desserts, and beverage…all for a free will offering.  Proceeds go to Mission Projects.  

    3. Community Bingo
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area Senior Citizens are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, July 13 from 2-3 PM in the dining room at Ecumen Pines! Community Bingo will be .25 cents per card, with the last game being a coverall and is $1.00 per card – WINNER TAKES ALL! Community Bingo is offered the 2nd Sunday of EACH month with complimentary coffee and snack immediately following.

    1. McLeod County Senior Citizen Pot Luck Picnic
      12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The McLeod County Senior Citizens Pot Luck Picnic will be Wednesday, July 16th, beginning at noon at the Brownton Community Center in Brownton.  If you have any questions, call Genny Lhotka at 320-583-9222.

    2. Ice Cream Social
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      United Lutheran Church of Lake Lillian is having their Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, July 16th from 5-7 pm at the church.  Cost is just a free will offering for BBQ’s, Hot Dogs, Beans, Chips, Pickles, Watermelon, Pie, Ice Cream, and a beverage.

    1. Prairie Days Looking for Entrants
      9:00 am – 9:30 am

    2. SL Music in the Park Schedule
      6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      Once again the City of Silver Lake presents their Music in the Park series.  Food is served on concert nights at 6 pm, Music starts at 7 pm.  Bring you own chairs!  Prizes awarded throughout the evening.

    1. Rails To Trails
      1:00 pm – 11:30 pm

      Rails To Trails Watertown, Minnesota Friday July 18th and Saturday July 19th, 2014. Some events Friday Gary Burke Memorial Golf Tournament, Farmers Market, Toilet Bowl Races, Bingo, The Young Funks 5-7:30 p.m., and the Basement Band 8-11:30. Saturday events Car Show, DJ Music Chopper 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Grand Parade 11:00, Wrestling Takedown Tournament, Magician Matt Dunn, The Jason Paulson Band 8-11:30, Fireworks at dusk, and many other events.

    2. Prairie Days
      4:00 pm – 12:00 pm

      Prairie Days in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. Friday July 18 – Sunday July 20, 2014. Some events include Live Music Friday and Saturday. Saturday Bingo, Parade beginning at 6:00 p.m. , Craft Sale Farmers Market coronation and Fire Works. Other items, Archery, BB Gun Shoot, food, 5K race, softball game City vs Country, Bean Bag tournament, car show, corn feed, Art tent, farm animals, games for kids, and ending with a church service under the tent Sunday morning.

    3. Ice Cream Social
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      St. John’s Council of Catholic Women of the Dassel and Cokato area’s are having an Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 18th from 4:30-7 pm.   The event will be at the church Education Center on Highway 12 between Dassel and Cokato.  A free will offering will be taken for BBQ’s Potato Salad, Chips, Pie, Ice Cream, and a beverage.  

    4. Community Concert in Gibbon
      6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Gibbon Area Uncommon Band of Renown continues its 2014 Summer Season with a Community Concert in the Gibbon City Park on Friday, July 18th, beginning at 7:15 pm. Bring the whole family to hear the creative sounds of Gibbon’s finest band. Members of Saint Peter’s Church will serve hot food, cool beverages, and homemade pie, beginning at 6:00 PM. Come rain or shine and enjoy a fabulous summer’s evening in beautiful downtown Gibbon!

    1. 8th Annual Adoption Ride
      11:00 am – 6:30 pm

      Area motorcyclists can take part in the 8th Annual Adoption Ride, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2014, starting at 11:00 AM.  The event is done poker run style, riding at your own pace.  Registration/punch cards will be available at the Riverside Tavern in Forest City and Cactus Jacks II in Stewart.  The ride will end at the Riverside Tavern at 6:00 PM with prizes drawn at 6:30 PM, followed by a street dance.  All proceeds benefit Catholic Charities Adoption Services and Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Participants are also asked to bring new or gently used DVD’s (Rated G – PG13) to donate to Vids 4 Kids.  For more information, call Mike at 320-583-4765 or Brad at 320-980-2733.

    2. DC Presents Les Miserables
      7:00 pm – 2:00 pm

      The Dassel Cokato Community Theatre presents “Les Misérables” for 6 shows.  Performances are scheduled over two weekends: Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m., Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m.  Performances will be held in the Dassel-Cokato Performing Arts Center located at the D-C High School. Reserved seat tickets are $7 for youth (18 and under) and $15 for adults. Tickets may be purchased online at www.dc.k12.mn.us/pac or in person or by phone through the Dassel-Cokato Community Education office at 320-286-4120. Tickets will also be available at the door, beginning one hour prior to each performance.

    1. Country Festival
      10:00 am – 2:30 pm

      St. Mary’s of Czestochowa is having their 32nd annual Country Festival on Sunday, July 20th.  Mass celebrated at 10 am, Dinner is from 11a-2:30 pm, Cemetery Prayer Service begins at 1 pm.  Also included in the day is a raffle, Live music, Country Store, Cake Walk, Father Josephs Rolls, Games, Pull Tabs, Silent Auction and more.  Cost for the meal is $12 for adults, under 12 is $7, and Preschool is free.  Drive through window is available.

    1. Glencoe Music in the Park
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Glencoe Lions Club Music In The Park is coming up on Wednesday, July 23rd at Oak Leaf Park.  Free Live Music performed by Jim and Mike Wendolek from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  A shredded beef sandwich meal, with chips, pickles, dessert and beverage is available, serving from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds go to community projects.  Bring a chair and bring your friends.

    1. CCW Rummage Sale at St. Pius X School
      8:00 am – 2:00 pm

      St. Pius X School in Glencoe will host its CCW Rummage Sale on Thursday and Friday, July 24th and 25th, in the school’s Gymnasium and Sarto Room. The sale will feature clothes and flea market items. Clothes and selected items will be priced at $6.00 per bag. Thursday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and Friday’s hours will be from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

    2. Plato Lions Blood Drive
      1:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Bloodmobile in Plato – July 26th
      The Plato Lions Club is sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, July 24th, at Discover Church (10478 Bell Avenue), along Highway 212.  Hours for the blood drive will be from 1:00 – 7:00 PM.  If you’re at least 17 years of age (or 16 with a signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you’re encouraged to donate.  To make an appointment, call Ken or Myra at 320-238-2370.

    3. Bake Sale
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      All are invited to attend an “Old Fashion Home-Made Taste” Bake Sale Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 PM at Ecumen Oaks & Pines. Choose from cakes, cookies, bars, pies and breads while quantities last. Cash Only Please – No Credit Cards or Checks.

    4. Martin Benefit
      4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Gaylord Legion is hosting a benefit for Todd Martin on Thursday, July 24th from 4-8 pm at the Club.  Free Will Donation for the Meal, plus a silent auction.  Martin is battling Kidney Cancer.

    5. Cologne Glad Days
      7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

      Check out Cologne’s Glad Days July 24th-26th.  On the 24th it’s the Garden Party at 7 pm.  On the 25th it’s Softball, Kids Fest, and the Rum Runners Band.  And on the 26th enjoy sports tournaments, Sheep Head Tournament, Kids Pedal Pull, Music, Petting Zoo, Bounce House, Lumberjack Show, Free Beer, Blurred Vision, and MUCH MORE!

    1. Glencoe Days REVISTED
      5:00 pm – 11:45 pm

      The Glencoe Chamber of Commerce announces that Glencoe Days REVISITED will be Friday, July 25th in the west parking area at Glencoe City Center.  Free community corn feed from 5-8 pm with cheese burgers and nachos for sale as well.  Roadhouse 6 will take to the stage from 8-12 pm.  FIREWORKS at dusk.  (the original Glencoe Days were rained/flooded out)

    2. Final Gibbon Concert for Season
      7:15 pm – 8:45 pm

      The Gibbon Area Uncommon Band of Renown concludes its 2014 Summer Season with a Farewell Community Concert in Gibbon City Park on Friday, July 25th, beginning at 7:15 pm. In this popular concert, the director invites each section of the band to chose its favorite song to play. Members of the Gibbon Book Buddies will be serving hot food, beverages, and their delicious pies.

    1. Moms Day on the Farm

      The Minnesota CattleWomen’s Association will be hosting a Mom’s Day on the Farm Event on Saturday, July 26th from 9am-3:30pm at the Schiefelbein Farms near Kimball. Moms can Tour a Farm, Explore how beef gets from the pasture to your plate, Participate in discussions on issues which interest you most about modern beef production, and Learn how to select and cook the perfect steak on the grill for maximum taste and tenderness. There is no charge to attend a Farm Tour, but space is limited.
