    1. Alzheimers Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The next meeting of the local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will meet Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. This is a safe and welcoming place to meet others who are affected with similar issues, gather information/resources and to receive support throughout the various stages of this journey. Please contact Kristal Ehrke, Alzheimer’s Association volunteer facilitator, at (320) 583-1551 for more information. The support group is open to the public and free of charge

    2. NCA Spring Program
      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      You’re invited to support the students of New Century Academy in their Spring Program “Music in America!”  The New Century Academy Choir and Guitar Ensemble, along with solo acts by students and staff, will bring you on a journey of music throughout American history on Tuesday, May 13th, 7:00 PM, at New Century Academy. Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be taken to provide music and materials for the 2014-2015 school year.

    1. Cosmos Legion dance
      1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

      The next senior dance at the Cosmos American Legion will be Wednesday, May 14th from 1:30-4:30 pm.  Music from Michael James.  A light lunch will follow.

    1. Poppy Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Glencoe VFW Auxiliary will have it’s Poppy Luncheon on Thursday, May 15th from 11a-1p at the Post Home.  Everyone is invited for Turkey Salad, Fresh Fruit, Pickles, Roll, Bars, and Coffee for $7.  Take outs are available, for delivery call 864-5992.

    2. Brain Boosting Workshop
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Minnesota Brain Injury Force is holding a brain boosting workshop at Hutch Health on Thursday, May 15th. The workshop will start at 6:30 pm in Conference Room A.  More info at mnbif.org

    1. Events at Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church
      6:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church is hosting a couple events on May 16th and 17th.  On May 16th the church will host a seminar for young adults who are dating and/or preparing for marrage.  The Seminar starts at 8 pm, with a light lunch and worship service preceding it at 6 pm.  On May 17th the church is having a book signing from 10a-Noon with Author Rodney Johnson.  He wrote “Coming to Grips with Alzheimers”.  Johnson will also speak at the regular Sunday morning worship service at 10:20 am, a Potluck Dinner will follow Worship.  Plus on Saturday the church will have another seminar from 1-4 pm titled “Parenting in today’s world”.

    1. FFCC Benefit
      8:00 am – 4:00 pm

      The Foundation for Challenged Children is having their 22nd annual Benefit on Saturday, May 17th.  A pancake breakfast will start things off from 8-11 am at the Vineyard United Methodist Church.  Motorcycle ride will follow and end with raffle and door prizes at the Hutchinson Mall at 4 pm.  

    2. Daycare Conference
      9:00 am – 9:30 am

      The Creative Daycare Assocation is presenting nationally known author/speaker Jeff Johnson.  He’ll present a 6 hour conference onSaturday, May 17th at the Ridgewater College Business Center in Hutchinson. Jeff will cover topics from using the uncurriculum method in your daycare,to rough and tough play, and caregiver self care, among other topics.  Cost is $40 before May 9th, $50 after (fee includes a light lunch).  A certificate for 6 hours of training will be given out at the end of the conference, approved for use with the Minnesota Center for Professional Development.  Call Lisa at 583-4824 to Register or get more info.

    3. Studebaker Day
      1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Minnesota Pioneer Park of Annandale is hosting Studebaker Day on Saturday, May 17th.  The 13th annual Classic Car display will be from 1-3 pm and include the Wright County Car Club and the Kingdom Cruisers of Monticello.  Adults are $5, Children are free when accompanied by an adult.

    1. Dassel Fire Dept Breakfast
      8:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Dassel Fire Department is hosting their French Toast Breakfast Fundraiser on Sunday, May 18th from 8a-1p at the Fire Hall.  It’s a free will donation for all you can eat.  Proceeds go to Dassel Fire Relief Assocation.  

    2. HJLBA Pancake Breakfast
      8:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Hutchinson Junior League Baseball Assn is having a pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 18th from 8a-Noon at the Hutchinson Elks Lodge.  On the menu is Mixed fruit, scrambled eggs, pancakes, ham, sausage, and beverage.  Cost is $6 for all you can eat, Kids under 5 eat free.  

    3. Cedar Mills Pancake Brunch
      9:00 am – 12:30 pm

      The Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club is having their monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, May 18th from 9a-12:30p at the Club.  On the menu is Regular and Potato Pancakes, French Toast, Scrambled Eggs and more!  Adults are $8, Ages 6-12 are $4, under 5 is free.  

    4. Woodstone Grand Opening
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      You are invited to the Grand Opening of Woodstone Senior Living.  The Open House will be Sunday, May 18th from 11a-3p at their facility (1025 Dale St SW, Hutch).  Enjoy Entertainment, Food, Tours, and a chance to meet the Woodstone Team.

      Harmony River Auxiliary meeting will be Monday, May 19 at 2 pm in the Activity Room at Harmony River Living Center.

    2. Nostalgia Night
      7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Mcleod County Historical Society is having their Nostalgia Night Fundraiser on Monday, May 19th at the Hutchinson Depot.  Cost is $25 a ticket for tours, food, music, trivia, and prizes! Plus you can dress in your best railroad themed costume for their costume contest.

    1. Cardiac Rehab Reunion Walk
      10:30 am – 12:00 pm

      Join the Cardiac Rehab Reunion walk on Tuesday, May 20th from 10:30-Noon at the Hutchinson Mall.  The walk is for past or present patients and their families.  Wear your cardiac shirt if you have one!  There will be door prizes, give aways, beverages, and heart healthy snacks!

    2. Caregiver Support Group
      1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The next caregiver support group at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia will be Tuesday, May 20th from 1:30-3 pm in the Willette Room.  This month LPN Barb Krogstad will be the guest, and the meeting will focus on “stress free moments for everyday living”.  The group is free of charge and open to everyone.

      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      See a local video on Colorado Steamers at the Mcleod County Historical Society on Thursday, May 22nd from 6-8pm.  Local journalist Terry Davis narrates this video on Colorado Steam Engines that were once used in Mcleod County.  More info go to mcleodhistory.org

    1. Plato Legion Memorial Day
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      The public is invited to attend the Plato American Legion’s Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26, 2014, beginning at 9:00 AM at the Plato Community Hall.  The featured speaker will be Captain Dennis Darnell.

    2. Silver Lake Legion Memorial Day Events
      10:30 am – 12:00 pm

      Silver Lake American Legion Post 141 will observe Memorial Day (May 26, 2014) with a parade and service.  The parade will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a service at 10:45 AM at American Legion Park.  In case of rain, the service will be at the Silver Lake Auditorium.  The guest speaker for the service will be Joe Niesen.

    1. Medicare class
      1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

      The Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging®, Inc. will be teaching an  introductory class on Medicare. If you are getting ready to turn 65, new to Medicare or just want information about your benefits this class is for you!     1. FC Threshers Tractor Drive
      7:00 am – 12:30 pm

      The Forest City Threshers are having their Tractor Drive Fundraiser on Saturday, May 31st.  Registration is at 7 at the FC Threshing Show grounds, Drive starts at 8:30 am, and lunch is at Noon.  Cost is $25 for the drive, lunch, and tshirt…with proceeds benefiting the Meeker County Food Shelf.  

    2. Paws on Parade
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The annual Paws on Parade is coming up on Saturday, May 31st at the Mcleod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.  Registration starts at 9 am, Walk at 10 am.  Collect pledges to win great prizes…the grand prize is a $750 travel voucher.  Food, Door Prizes, Silent Auction, Vendors, Demos and more are all a part of the event.  Come with or without a pet.  

    3. Hamilton Benefit
      11:00 am – 4:00 pm

      You’re invited to two benefit’s for Lee Hamilton on Saturday, May 31st.  First enjoy a spaghetti dinner starting at 2 pm at the Howard Lake American Legion (Adults $8, Children 12 and under $5).  A meat raffle, silent auction and bake sale are also going on at the Legion.  Then head over to the Howard Lake Municipal for a Beer Bust at 6 pm, plus Games and Fun all night.  Proceeds benefit Lee Hamilton who’s battling Stage 4 Lung, Liver, Bone, and Brain Cancer.

      7:30 am – 8:00 am

      Vineyard United Methodist Church is offering free gardens this year. They have 2 that are open, all plowed and ready for planting.  Water will be onsite.  The gardens are located on the north side of the church, corner of School road and South Grade Road.  Contact Dora @ 612-719-6712, or the church office at 320-587-2200 for more information.

    2. Car Buffs Breakfast
      9:00 am – 10:30 am

      The Willmar Car Club is hosting their Car Buffs Breakfast at the Cosmos Legion, Saturday, June 7th at 9 am.  The breakfast is open to area car enthusiasts.  

    3. Motorcycle Run
      9:00 am – 6:00 pm

      The 4th Annual Hutchinson Jaycee Water Carnival motorcycle run will be held on Saturday, June 7. Same day event, registration and lineup begin at 9:00 am at Buffalo Wild Wings with group departure promptly at 10:00 am. The route will feature four stops – Clara City, Spicer, Cold Spring, and Annandale – and will be approximately 160 miles round trip. New for 2014, the first 100 people to register the morning of the event will receive a Water Carnival Motorcycle Run T-shirt. The group will return to Buffalo Wild Wings no later than 6:00 pm for door prizes and other drawings. For more information, visit www.watercarnival.org

      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area Senior Citizens are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, June 8 from 2-3 PM in the dining room at Ecumen Pines! Community Bingo will be .25 cents per card, with the last game being a coverall and is $1.00 per card – WINNER TAKES ALL! Community Bingo is offered the 2nd Sunday of EACH month with complimentary coffee and snack immediately following.

Contact Kristal at (320) 583-1551 for more information. The group meets at 1st Lutheran Church in Glencoe, on the second Tuesday of every month. The support group is open to the public and free of charge. 

    2. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group
      7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The next meeting of the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group will be on Tuesday, June 10, beginning at 7:00 PM in Conference Room F of Hutchinson Health Hospital. The group is open to the community at no cost. The group meets the second Tuesday of every other month. Future meeting date for 2014 are August 12, October 14 and December 9.
