    1. July 13 Benefit for Jamie Grams-Petzel
      10:30 am – 3:00 pm

      The American Legion Club (329 Main Avenue) in Gaylord will host a benefit for Jamie Grams-Petzel as she continues her fight against breast cancer. The benefit will be on Saturday, July 13th, from 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Stop by and enjoy a meal featuring pulled pork sandwiches, take part in the silent auction and bake sale, and support Jamie!

    1. July 14 Hutchinson Sons of Norway Event
      8:00 am – 5:30 pm

      The Hutchinson Lodge of the Sons of Norway has chartered a coach bus for the annual celebration of Norway Day on Sunday, July 14th, at Minnehaha Falls Park in Minneapolis. The bus will leave the west parking lot of the Hutchinson Senior High School at 8:00 AM and return at 5:30 PM. The cost for transportation is $12.50/person and is non-refundable. A program book with coupons for drawings can be purchased for $2 at the event. The event includes Hardingfelelag music at 10:30 AM, followed by a worship service at 11:00 AM and Children’s Parade at 12:55 PM. There will also be arts and crafts, musicians and dancers from Norway, Norwegian American entertainment, Norwegian Glee Club, Norwegian food and drawings for prizes. All ages are welcome!     2. July 14 White Squirrel Festival in Plato
      8:30 am – 2:00 pm

      Plato’s White Squirrel Festival is planned for Sunday, July 14th. The activities begin with the Omelet Brunch at 8:30 AM. The Community Church Service featuring the Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Choir is at 9:30 AM. Other activities are St. Paul’s UCC Silent Auction from 8:30 AM – noon, the Hutchinson Clown Club performing at 10:30 AM, and the duck races at 1:00 PM. The Plato Blue Jays will be in action as well, playing the Winsted Wildcats at 2:00 PM.

    3. July 14 Brownton Congregational Church to Honor Eunice Warner
      10:15 am – 11:15 am

      The Brownton Congregational Church (127 5th Avenue North) will honor organist and music teacher Eunice Warner on Sunday, July 14th. Eunice has served as the church’s organist for 60 years. The event is open to the public and will begin at 10:15 AM.

    4. July 14 Community Bingo at Ecumen Oaks & Pines
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area seniors are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, July 14th, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM in the Dining Room at the Ecumen Oaks & Pines (1015 Century Avenue SW) in Hutchinson. The cost is 25 cents per card for each regular game. The last game will be a “cover all” game and will be $1.00 per card, winner takes all. Coffee and snacks will follow the fun!     1. July 15 RSVP for Brownton All School Reunion (all-day)

      Alumni and friends of Brownton High School are asked to save the date of Saturday, August 10th, 2013, for the next Brownton All School Reunion. The event is for all Brownton High School and McLeod West High School graduates. A banquet will be at the Brownton Civic Center with a social beginning at 5:30 PM, a meal at 6:30 PM followed by a program and music by Bruce Bradley. You are asked to RSVP by July 15th, 2013.     1. July 16 Caregiver Support Group Meeting
      1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

      The next meeting of the Renville County Hospice Caregiver Support Group will be on Tuesday, July 16th, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM in the Willette Room of RC Hospital & Clinics (611 East Fairview) in Olivia. The topic for this month’s meeting is “Quick, Easy, Cheap and Delicious Meals.” You are reminded to bring the materials and cookbook provided at the June meeting to continue with meal planning and additional information. The meeting is free of charge, and there will be time for discussion and support. Future meetings are scheduled the third Tuesday of each month.     1. July 17 McLeod County Senior Citizens Potluck Picnic
      1:15 pm – 2:15 pm

      The McLeod County Senior Citizens Potluck Picnic will be Wednesday, July 17th, beginning at noon at the Glencoe City Center (1107 11th Street East) in Glencoe. Please bring a dish to share. The oldest lady and man will be crowned queen and king for the day. Please use the east entrance and come for an afternoon of fun.

    2. July 17 Fields of Grace Parish Events
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Fields of Grace Parish has events at two of its churches on Wednesday, July 17th. Swan Lake Lutheran Church (51420 Fort Road), rural New Ulm, will have its Pie & Ice Cream Social from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Then at 7:15 PM, Bernadotte Lutheran Church (34122 515th Avenue) east of Lafayette will have an outdoor service featuring a short devotional program and music with a message. The public is invited.

    1. July 19 – 21 Grace Lutheran Church’s 125th Anniversary (all-day)
      Jul 19 – Jul 21

      “Excited About Grace!” is the theme as Grace Lutheran Church (8638 Plum Avenue) of Brownton celebrates its 125th Anniversary. On Friday, July 19th, they’ll have an Ice Cream-Dessert-Pie Social, horse-drawn wagon rides, music and a bonfire. Saturday’s activities include a 5K Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run, a light breakfast and games for youth and adults. On Sunday, the worship service will be at 10:00 AM, a catered meal will be served at 11:30 AM (tickets available at the door) and the 125th Anniversary Program will be at 1:00 PM.

    2. July 19-21 Peace Lutheran Church Paper Drive
      9:00 am – 5:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) of Hutchinson is holding a Paper Drive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 19th, 20th and 21st. Drop off hours on Friday and Saturday are from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 9:00 AM – noon.

    3. July 19 St. John’s (Darwin) Ice Cream Social
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Council of Catholic Women of St. John’s Church in Darwin invites you to its annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 19th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the St. John’s Educational Center (17260 US Highway 12) between Dassel and Cokato. The menu will include barbecues, potato salad, chips, pie and ice cream. The cost is a free will offering.

    4. July 19 Matthew 14:16 Supper at Peace Lutheran Church
      5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church (400 Franklin Street SW) of Hutchinson will host its monthly Matthew 14:16 Supper on Friday, July 19th, beginning at 5:00 PM. The event offers a free, warm, nourishing meal, to anyone in the community.

    1. July 20 7th Annual Adoption Ride (all-day)
      Jul 20

      Area motorcyclists can take part in the 7th Annual Adoption Ride, planned for Saturday, July 20th. You can register at Stoney’s in Rockville, the Riverside Tavern in Forest City or Cactus Jack’s in Stewart. It’s a poker style run, riding at your own pace. The ride will end at the Riverside Tavern in Forest City at 7:00 PM with prizes and street dance to follow featuring the “Smok’n Guns.” There will also be family friendly activities in the afternoon at the Riverside Tavern.     2. July 20 Garden Tour & Salad Luncheon
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The women of Faith Lutheran Church (335 Main Street) in Hutchinson will present this year’s Garden Tour & Salad Luncheon on Saturday, July 20th, with the tour from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and the luncheon from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Tickets, available at the church office, are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 years of age and younger.

    3. July 20 Benefit for Paul & Geraldine Grinager
      4:00 pm – 10:00 pm

      VFW Post 380 in Montevideo will host a Taco Feed Benefit for Paul and Geraldine (Minkel) Grinager on Saturday, July 20th, from 4:00 – 10:00 PM. Paul is currently battling throat cancer and proceeds from the benefit will help with medical expenses. In conjunction with the taco feed, there will be a bake sale as well as live and silent auctions. Donations for the live or silent auction may be dropped off at VFW Post 980, and cash donations may be sent to Push Frog, 115 120th Avenue NW, Watson, MN 56295.

    1. July 21 Cedar Mills Gun Club Pancake Brunch
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      You and your family are invited to the Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club (62841 140th Street) for their monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, July 21st, with serving from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Enjoy all-you-care-to-eat regular and potato pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs and more. The cost is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6 – 12 years of age, and those 5 and younger eat for free. The Cedar Mills Rod & Gun Club is located near the intersection of State Highways 7 and 22 northeast of Cedar Mills.

    2. July 21 Summer Get Together Salad Luncheon

      The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (240 Cleveland Avenue) in Green Isle is sponsoring its Summer Get Together Salad Luncheon on Sunday, July 21st, from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM. The luncheon will feature a variety of salads, barbecues, desserts, lemonade and coffee. The cost is a free will offering with proceeds going toward mission projects.

    1. LWML Fall Barbecue at Emanuel Lutheran Church
      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      You are invited to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Fall Barbecue at Emanuel Lutheran Church (18155 County Road 50) in Hamburg on Sunday, October 6th, from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM.  Enjoy a meal of barbecues or hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and more.  The cost for the meal is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children ages 5 – 12, and free for kids under the age of 5.  Takeout orders will be available.

    2. Pork Chop Dinner
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. John’s Lutheran Church Mountville – Gaylord, is having a Fall Harvest Windsor Pork Chop Dinner, Country Store and Usborne Books Fundraiser at the Gaylord American Legion on Sunday, October 6, 2013, from 11:00 AM – 1:oo PM.  The menu will feature Windsor pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable, apple sauce, bread, bars, and beverages.  Adult tickets are $9.50, $5.50 for children ages 5 – 10, and free for kids 4 years of age and younger. Tickets will be available at the door and take out orders will be available.

      Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (800 North Bluff Street) in Hutchinson invites you to a fish fry on Friday, October 18th, with serving from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM or until the fish are gone.  The menu will include Alaskan Pollack, baked beans, baked potatoes, coleslaw and more. The cost for the meal is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 6 – 13, and free for kids under 5 years of age and younger.  Take out orders will be available.  Call 320-587-3318 for takeout orders.

      The Hutchinson American Legion Auxiliary invites you to their monthly Spagetti Supper.  It’s on Thursday, November 7th from 4:30 to 7:30 pm in the Legion’s Club Room.  Adults are $6.50, Children under 12 are $3.  Take Outs are available.

    1. Scout Food Drive in Glencoe and Silver Lake
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      Glencoe Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are teaming up to collect food for the McLeod Emergency Food Shelf Saturday, Nov 9th 2013.  Please place non-perishable food items in a bag and place it outside on your doorstep by 9:00 am Saturday morning for the Scouts to pick up.  This includes the cities of Glencoe and Silver Lake..  (If you are missed during the pick up, please drop your donation off at the Food Shelf in Glencoe.)

    1. Hector Lioness Omelet Breakfast
      9:00 am – 12:30 pm

      The Hector Lioness Club is holding an Omelet Breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 10th from 9 am – 12:30 pm at the American Bar and Grill.  Proceeds from the event will be used for special projects around the community.

    2. St. Paul’s Fall Get Together
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. Pauls Lutheran Church of Green Isle invites you to their Soup And Sandwich Fall Get Together on Sunday, Nov. 10th  at the church.  Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children 6-10.  On the Menu: Chicken Noodle Soup, Wild Rice Soup, Cream of Broccoli Soup, Egg Salad Sandwiches, and Ham Sandwiches.  Proceeds go to Mission Projects.  

    3. Bingo in Madelia
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      St. Mary’s Church of Madelia is having their Fall Festival Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 10th at 1:30 pm, with early bird bingo at 12:30 pm.  $2,000 in total pay out for the day.  Cost is $20 In advance and $22 at the door.  Lunch starts at 11 am.  Proceeds go to St. Mary’s CCW.

    4. Community Bingo
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area Senior Citizens are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, November 10 from 2-3 PM in the dining room at Ecumen Pines! Community Bingo will be .25 cents per card, with the last game being a coverall and is $1.00 per card – WINNER TAKES ALL! Community Bingo is offered the 2nd Sunday of EACH month with complimentary coffee and snack immediately following.

    5. Hymn Festival
      4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

      Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson will be hosting a hymn festival on Sunday, November 10 at 4:00 p.m..  Jim Strehlke, music director at Mayer Lutheran High School will be guest director for the mass choir.  Many familiar and favorite hymns will be sung.  The public is cordially invited.
