  1. Dec

    1. Prairie Community Church Bake Sale and Chili Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Prairie Community Church is holding their Bake Sale and Chili Luncheon on Saturday, Dec 7th from 11am-1pm at the church in Lester Prairie.  Serving Chili, Egg Salad Sandwiches, Cake, and beverage.  Come and enjoy food and fellowship!

    2. Soup Dinner and HS Basketball
      2:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      Enjoy High School Basketball and a Meal on Saturday, Dec 7th at NYA High School.  It’s Central Raider Booster Club Day as Glencoe Silver Lake takes on Norwood Young America in Boys and Girls Basketball.  C squad games start at 3 pm.  All you can eat Chicken Wild Rice Soup served starting at 2 pm.  Cost is $6 per meal ($8 with a bread bowl).

    1. Living Nativity in Arlington
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      You’re invited to a Drive by Living Nativity on Sunday, Dec 8th at the Sibley County Fairgrounds in Arlington from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Actors and live animals portray christ’s birth in 6 different scenes.  Admission is just Cash or a Donation to the local Food Shelf. 

    2. Candle Lighting Remembrance Service
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Hutchinson Area Chapter of The Compassionate Friends is hosting its 11th annual Candle Lighting Remembrance Service on Sunday, Dec 8th, at 6:30 pm at the Dobratz/Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. This service is open to anyone who would like to light a candle in remembrance of a child of any age who has died too soon…friends, family, and co-workers are welcome as well. Along with the program, there will be special music featuring guitar and vocals and the actual candle lighting by each attendee. The program will be followed by refreshments and a special remembrance cake. If there are any questions, call 320-583-6036

    3. Mandolin Service
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You are invited to the Brownton Congregational Church on Sunday, Dec. 8th for a Mandolin Service.  The Service starts at 7 pm, Refreshments served after.

    1. Sibley County’s Santas Helpers program
      4:00 pm – 4:30 pm

      Sibley County’s Santa’s Helpers program is currently underway.  Their goal is to provide each child with a gift valued at $20, a pair of mittens and a hat, plus providing the family with a new blanket or quilt.  This year’s program will be held on December 10th and 11th at the American Lutheran Church in Gaylord.  The group welcomes donations of toys, hats, mitens, fleece tied blankets and more!  You can bring donations to the Sibley County Public Health and Human Services building anytime before December 9th between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm.  Any Questions you can call 507-237-4000

    2. Brownton Legion Christmas Party
      5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Brownton American Legion and Auxiliary will have their Christmas Pary on Monday, Dec 9th.  Social Hour is at 5:30 pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm at the Brownton Community Center.  There will also be a special guest that night.

    3. Awaken your holiday spirit dinner
      6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

      Tickets are on sale now for the Awaken your holiday spirit dinner.  The event will be on Monday, Dec 9th at Zella’s Restaurant in Hutchinson.  Social hour is at 6 pm, Dinner at 7 pm.  Enjoy the food, plus a live performance from “The Awaken Band”.  Tickets are $50 per person and available at Zella’s.  Proceeds from the event benefit the United Way of Mcleod County and Common Cup Ministry.

    1. Sons of Norway Events
      9:00 am – 7:30 pm

      The Sons of Norway, Hutchinson is holding two events.  The first is on Friday, Dec 13th.  It’s a Scandinavian Bake Sale from 9 am – Noon in the Lobby of Mid Country Bank’s Downtown location in Hutchinson.  The second event is Saturday, Dec 14th.  It’s the lodge’s annual Christmas Julebord held from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at Shalom Baptist Church in Hutchinson.  For more info contact Gabra at 234-8979 or email sofnhutchinson@yahoo.com

    1. Luke Nelson fundraiser
      7:00 am – 10:00 am

      You are invited to a special Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser for Luke Nelson on Saturday, Dec 14th from 7 – 10 am at Applebee’s in Hutchinson.  Luke is a football player from Dassel Cokato who suffered a brain injury during a game this past season.  Funds raised at the event go to his ongoing medical care and expenses.  Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for Children under 12.

    2. Glencoe Historic Preservation Society Open House
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Glencoe Historic Preservation Society will be having a Christmas Open House and Bake Sale on Saturday Dec 14th. from 9:00-1:00 P.M. in the Glencoe Historic Room located in the Glencoe City Center . Come and enjoy some Christmas spirit. Apple Cider and cookies will be served.

    3. First Lutheran Christmas Bazaar
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      First Evangelical Lutheran Women of the ELCA 2013 Christmas Bazaar Dec. 14, 11am – 1pm at the Cosmos American Legion. Scalloped potatoes and ham, mixed vegetables, pickles, bread, beverage and dessert. Free Will Offering. Baked goods for sale. Drawing for quilt and afghan at 1pm. $1.00 donation per chance. Need not be present to win.

    4. Pines Open House
      2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

      The Staff & Residents of Ecumen Oaks & Pines invite you to Ecumen Pines Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 14 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Enjoy live music by the Bell Choir at 2 PM, followed by the annual Remembrance Service.     1. Cedar Mills Pancake Brunch
      9:00 am – 12:30 pm

      You’re invited to the Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club’s monthly pancake brunch on Sunday, Dec 15th from 9 am – 12:30 pm at the Club.  On the menu is regular and potato pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, and more!  Adults are $8, Ages 6-12 are $4, and under 5 eat free.

    2. Holiday Puppet Show
      1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

      On Sunday, December 15th beginning at 5:00 pm The Living Water Puppets of Grace Bible Church will be putting on a special Christmas program titled, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.  Young children will especially enjoy the puppets.  There is no charge—and the public is invited to attend.     3. Oaks Open House

      The Staff & Residents of Ecumen Oaks & Pines invite you to Ecumen Oaks Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 15 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Enjoy live music by the Bell Choir at 2 PM, followed by the annual Remembrance Service.     4. BASICS Holiday Concert
      3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

      The BASICS invite you to a holiday concert on Sunday, Dec 15th, 3 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stewart.  A free will donation lunch will follow.  Proceeds will be used to further the BASICS Ministry.

    5. St. John’s Lutheran presents Litchfield Area Male Chorus
      3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

      St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hutchinson presents the Litchfield Area Male Chorus in a Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec 15th at 3 pm.  A Free Will Offering will be taken. 

    6. Free Benefit Christmas Concert
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      The Awaken band is hosting a free Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec 15th from 6-8 pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.  The concert is free and open to the public.  Christmas treats will be served throughout the evening.  Bring your family and friends, relax and enjoy some time together while listening to some great Christmas music!  A free-will offering will be taken to support Common Cup Ministry.  

    7. A Christmas Carol Sing
      7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      You are invited to the Brownton Congregational Church on Sunday, Dec 15th for a Christmas Carol Sing.  The service starts at 7 pm.

    1. GSL Holiday Band Concert
      7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Glencoe-Silver Lake High School bands will present a holiday concert on Monday, December 16th  at 7:30 p.m. in the GSL High School Auditorium.  This concert will feature some holiday favorites as well as some non-holiday selections and will be presented by the GSL 9th & 10th Grade Band and the GSL Concert Band.  Tickets for the concert are $6 for adults and $4 for students and are available at the door.

      Join Peace Lutheran Church and the Hutchinson High School REACH Program for their Holiday Outreach Dinner on Thursday, Dec 19th from 6-7 pm at the church.  You can pick up your free tickets at Peace Lutheran or Common Cup Ministry.  More info go to thereachteam.org

      4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

      The Fiber Arts Guild will be meeting on Thursday, Jan 9th at 4:30 pm at the Hutchinson Center for the Arts.  This month’s program will be from Grubers Quilt Shop talking about “Trends, Techniques, and Tools”.  

    2. Legion Spagetti Supper
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      The Hutchinson American Legion Auxiliary is holding a spaghetti supper on Thursday, Jan 9th from 4:30 to 7 pm at the American Legion Club Room (use east entrance).  Adults are $6.50, Children under 12 are $3.  Families welcome, Take outs available.

    1. MN Music HOF Fundraiser
      12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame is holding a Parade of Bands Fundraiser and Concertina Jamboree on Sunday, January 12th from Noon-6 pm at the Park Ballroom of New Prague.  Performers include: Czech Area Concertina Club, Charlie Sticha Band, The Revival Band, and the Wendinger Band.  Food and Beverages available.  All proceeds used for the MMHF Museum in New Ulm.

    2. Community Bingo
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Area Senior Citizens are invited to play Community Bingo on Sunday, Jan 12 from 2-3 PM in the dining room at Ecumen Pines. Community Bingo will be .25 cents per card, with the last game being a coverall and is $1.00 per card – WINNER TAKES ALL!       The Brownton American Legion Post 143 and Auxiliary will have its next meeting on Monday, Jan 13 at 7:30 pm at the Brownton Community Center.

    1. Alzheimers Support Group
      6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The next meeting of the local area support group for adult children, spouses, and friends caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss will meet Tuesday, Jan 14 at 6:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. This is a safe and welcoming place to meet others who are affected with similar issues, gather information, resources and to receive support throughout the various stages of this journey. Please contact Kristal Ehrke, Alzheimer’s Association volunteer facilitator, at (320) 583-1551 for more information. The support group is open to the public and free of charge.

    1. Friends of High Island Fishing Contest
      9:00 am – 2:00 pm

      The Friends of High Island’s 2nd annual Fishing Contest at High Island Lake will be Saturday, Jan 18th.  Registration starts at 9 am, fishing at 10 am.  $5 entry fee, youth 12 and under fish for free with paid adult. Cash prizes awarded in 11 different categories.  Food is available on site.
