    1. Food Shelf BoardMeeting
      9:30 am – 11:00 am

      The McLeod Emergency Food Shelf Board of Directors Annual Meeting is scheduled for 9:30 AM Thursday, May 19 with the regular meeting to follow. Both meetings will be held at MEFS – Hutchinson Site, located at 498 Hwy 7 E, Hutchinson, MN. The Annual Meeting is open to the public and is a great opportunity to meet the current Board of Directors as well hear the accomplishments of 2015 and the vision for 2016 and beyond. Refreshments will be served.  

    2. Poppy Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Glencoe VFW Auxiliary presents their Poppy Luncheon on Thursday, May 19th from 11a-1p at their Post Home. Serving Turkey Salad, Fresh Fruit, Pickles, Roll, Bars and Coffee for $7. Take outs available, for delivery call 320-864-5992

    1. Rummage Sale
      8:00 am – 4:00 pm

      New Journey UCC of Hutchinson holds their rummage sale on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21. All items are 50 cents, unless marked. Hours Friday 8a-4p and Saturday 9a-Noon.  

    2. Huls Benefit
      4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      You are invited to a Spaghetti Feed Benefit for Rick Huls on Friday, May 20th from 4-7 pm at the BLHS Hector Campus. You can also shop the Silent Auction and Bake Sale. Proceeds benefit Huls’ battle with Cancer.  

    3. Dance Marathon
      7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      McLeod County Relay for the Life Team “From Pennys to Dollars” is hosting a 2 hour Glow in the Dark aerobic dance marathon that promises to be a great time. On Friday, May 20th from 7-9pm at Park Elementary Gym. Admission is $15 in advance  - register at Celebrate Dance, Fitness, and Wellness Center or from any member of our Relay Team  - or $20 at the door. Children 10 and under are $10. There will be door prizes and additional glow accessories to purchase at the event.

    1. HOMN Benefit Walk
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Heart of MN Animal Shelter has their Paws on Parade Benefit Walk on Saturday, May 21st at the Mcleod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. Registration is at 9 am, Walk begins at 10 am. Enjoy Food, Contests, Silent Auction, Demos, Vendors, Entertainment, Pet Portraits and more throughout the event. $5 Registration fee, and that qualifies you for drawings.  

    2. Studebaker Day
      1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      The Wright County Car Club presents Studebaker Day at MN Pioneer Park in Annandale on Saturday, May 21st from 1-3 pm. Free Admission for Classic Vehicles, and Museum Buildings are open.

    3. Rib Fest and Pork Chop Dinner
      4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

      mmanuel Lutheran Church of New Auburn will be hosting its first annual rib fest on Saturday, May 21 beginning at 4:30 until ribs are gone.  $2.00 per bone.  $200 first place award.  Contact Aaron to enter at 952-212-1815. There will be food, beer, music, and a bounce house for kids. Then On Sunday May 22 beginning at 10:30 am Immanuel Lutheran Church of New Auburn will also be hosting a pork chop dinner with scalloped potatoes and baked beans.  $10 per plate, under age 5 are free.  The proceeds from both of these events will go toward paying the debt on the church’s new addition.

    2. Brain Injury Benefit
      5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Retro Ron will be performing on Monday, May 23 ( 5- 8 PM)  at Glencoe’s Unhinged Pizza, plus Unhinged Pizza will donate a portion of their BUFFET sales to help support MN Brain Injury Force’s ( MNBIF) programs and services for survivors. Two area brain injured veterans will share the TIPS that the public donates during that time. Contact MN Brain Injury Force for more information on how you can support area brain injury survivors / veterans!

      Join the Cardiac Rehab Walk from 10:30a-Noon on Tuesday, May 24th at the Hutchinson Mall. All are welcome, and past and present cardiac rehab patients are encouraged to come. There will be giveaways, Door Prizes, Heart Healthy Snacks, and more!

    1. Food for Kidz Packing
      4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      There is a Food for Kidz Packaging Event on Wednesday, May 25 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Event open to everyone of all ages and you work as teams in packaging nutritious meals for hungry children and their families. A light lunch is provided during the eventand you can Come at any time and stay as long as you want.

    1. Auditions for DC Community Theatre
      10:00 am – 11:00 am

      Dassel-Cokato Community Theatre is posting an audition call for this summer’s musical, “Fiddler on the Roof”. Adult men and women are invited to audition Saturday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. OR Tuesday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. An accompanist will be available. Those auditioning must prepare a vocal-range song and bring their summer conflict schedule. Auditions will be held in the DC Performing Arts Center.

      Everyone is welcome to the Plato American Legion’s Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 30th, starting at 9 am at the Plato Community Hall. Address is by the Rev. Brian Brosz.  

    2. Brownton Memorial Day Service
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The annual Memorial Day Service in Brownton begins at 11 am on Monday, May 30th at the Brownton Community Center. This year’s speaker is Vietnam Veteran and Brownton HS Graduate Bruce Bartels. Following the service a Potluck will be served at Noon…Chicken and Beverages provided.

      The Brownton Congregational Church will hold their Community Dinner on Wednesday, June 8th from 5-7 pm with a free will offering. The Dinner is hosted the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

      Scandian Grove Lutheran Church has their Fun Run 5K on Saturday, June 11th starting at 9 am…Registration at 7:45 am. Download a registration form at scandiangrovelutheranchurch.org. Proceeds benefit newborn Everly Hewitt of Cleveland, MN who was born with Congential Diaphragmatic hernia.

    1. Sea Side Service
      9:30 am – 10:30 am

      Members and friends of Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake invite you to experience and participate in a unique outdoor worship service.  On Sunday, June 12th at 9:30 am a special Sea Side Service will be held at Swan Lake (north side—next to the pier). The service is reflective of the times when Jesus preached from a boat on the Sea of Galilee which is a fresh water lake. This worship event includes: A message preached from a boat (Pastor Rakow promises to not go overboard on the sermon), and congregational singing. Dress is casual, and those who attend are asked to bring their own lawn chairs or a blanket.  You are also welcome to join with your boat. We ask that other boats be anchored 5-10 minutes before the service begins. Following the service there will also be a potluck in the shelter for those who care to join.  Swan Lake is located about one mile northwest of Silver Lake on County Rd. 16

    1. Pork Chop Fundraiser

      The Mcleod County Museum is hosting their annual Pork Chop Supper Fundraiser on Monday, June 13th from 4:30-7 pm. Cost is $12 for adults, $6 for kids. Music from 5-6 pm from Rianne Matthews, and a limited amount of Les Kouba Art Prints are available on silent auction. More info at Mcleodhistory.org
