    1. LP Pillow Cleaning
      7:30 am – 3:00 pm

      The Lester Prairie Legion Auxiliary presents a Pillow Cleaning event on Thursday, May 7th from 7:30a-3p at the LP City Hall.  New Ticking, Cleaning, and returned the same day.

    2. National Day of Prayer Service
      8:30 am – 5:00 pm

      You are invited to a national day of Prayer, Prayer Service from Noon-12:45 pm on Thursday, May 7th at Oak Heights Covenant Church of Hutchinson.  The church building is also open from 8:30a-5p for prayer, with prayer guides available.

    3. Salad Luncheon
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Spring Salad Luncheon at St. Pius X Catholic Church of Glencoe is Thursday, May 7th from 11a-1p.  Serving a variety of salads and desserts, plus take home a party favor.  Cost is $8 in advance, $9 at the door…Children under 12 is free.  Take outs and delivery available (call 864-5162 for delivery)

    4. Salad Luncheon for World Hunger
      11:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop invites you to their Salad Luncheon for World Hunger on Thursday, May 7th from 11a-1p.  Cost is $7, Take Outs available.  

    5. Concert and Art Prowl
      5:00 pm – 8:15 pm

      The 2nd grade students of Helen Baker Elementary will be having their spring concert on Thursday, May 7th in the GSL High School Auditorium starting at 7 pm.  In conjunction with the concert the GSL PreK-12 Art Prowl will run as an open house from 5-8:15 pm in the cafeteria and gym.

    1. Kids Garage Sale
      9:00 am – 7:00 pm

      St. Anastasia’s Kids Garage Sale is Friday, May 8th from 9a-7p in their School Gym.  Most items are a quarter, from 5-7 it’s $2 to fill a grocery bag.   Selling clothing, toys, games, books, furniture and more!

    1. Fishing Opener Breakfast
      6:00 am – 11:00 am

      The Dassel Rod and Gun club is serving their Fishing Opener Breakfast on Saturday, May 9th at Sportsmens Park on Lake Washington.  Serving French Toast, Eggs, Sausage, and beverage from 6a-11a.  Adults are $8, Children under 12 are $4.

    2. Food Drive
      8:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The National Association of Letter Carriers are conducting their 23rd annual Food Drive on Saturday, May 9th.  City and Rural Carriers will collect non perishable food items left by your mail box. Locally all food collected will be donated to the Mcleod Emergency Food Shelf.

    3. Common Cup 5K
      9:00 am – 10:00 am

      Common Cup Ministry of Hutchinson is having their 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, May 9th at West Masonic Park.  Each registered participant receives lunch, tshirt and a backpack.  Registration forms are available at the Common Cup offices.  Cost is $25 individual, $35 couple, $50 families.  Pre registration deadline is April 27th, but same day registrations can be taken (add $5 to fee for same day).  

    4. Ness Nordic Fest
      11:00 am – 4:00 pm

      Join in a celebration of the Nordic cultures (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Icelandic) at the 1st annual Ness Nordic Fest to be held at the 1858 historic Ness Church located SW of Litchfield on Saturday, May 9th from 11a-4p with a children’s parade at 1p.  The festival features a Viking Age encampment, music, story telling and games of Kubb.  Admission is free and Scandinavian foods will be sold throughout the day including lefse, rommegrot, vaffler and more!  Wear your Nordic costume if you have one.  For more info contact Gabra Lokken at 320.234.8979 or email sofnhutchinson@yahoo.com.

      The Hutchinson Church of God invites the community to a free Creation Seminar on Sunday, May 17th from 1-4p at their church.  Greg Landry will discuss the theories of evolution vs. Creation.  

    2. Book Presentation
      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      The Mcleod County Historical Society presents a book presentation on Milestones in the History of Hutchinson on Sunday, May 17th from 2-3 pm in the Museums Educational Center in Hutchinson.  More info go to mcleodhistory.org

    1. Bike Rodeo
      10:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The NYA Church of Peace is holding a Bike Rodeo on Saturday, May 23rd from 10a-Noon.  The event is for kids ages 8-10 years old.  Free bike helmet to the first 50 kids, plus they’ll have a drawing for a Girls and Boys Bike.

    1. Memorial Day Program
      9:30 am – 11:00 am

      The Hutchinson VFW and American Legion will hold their Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 25th.  The Parade will leave the Legion at 9:30 am and proceed to Mcleod County Memorial Park.  Program will be at 10 am.  

    2. Brownton Memorial Day Service
      10:00 am – 11:30 am

      The Brownton Memorial Day Service will be held on Monday, May 25th at the Oak Grove Cemetery, starting at 10 am.  Pot Luck to follow at the Community Center at 11:30 am.

    1. Ride to Save Lives
      11:30 am – 6:00 pm

      It’s the 3rd annual Ride to Save Lives Motorcycle and Bus Run on Saturday, July 11th.  Proceeds benefit SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education)  $20 per biker, $5 per rider, or you can ride the bus at $15 per person.  The ride is in memory of Mike Thaemert and starts at 11:30 am at Knuckleheads in Mayer.  The ride will end back at Knuckleheads also.
