      Hawick United Methodist Church will be hosting an Ice Cream Social on thursday June 20th from 4:30-7:30 pm. They are located at 24060 175th St. NE, Hawick, MN. They will be serving sandwiches, beans, salad, pie and ice cream and a beverage. A free will offering will be taken.

      The Smoking Knights will be hosting a BBQ Competition on June 21 and June 22 at the McLeod County Fairgrounds, which is located at 840 Century Avenue in Hutchinson.. Friday the hours are 9am 9pm and Saturday from 9am-6pm. There will be bean bags,bug races, flea market and craft sale on both days, beer garden and bar,ribs, pony rides and live music. The Viking Cheerleaders will be there on Saturday from 3-5pm. with the Saturday Night Cruisers on Saturday from 9-12am. There will be bingo all day on Saturday. Chris Brooks and The Silver City Boys will be there on Friday at 7 pm and The Jaded Band on Saturday at 7 pm. Any questions call Corey at 320-434-0404 or Linda at 320-224-7894.       Men’s slow pitch softball teams are needed for tournaments in three area communities. The Stewart Summerfest Tournament is June 21st – 23rd, the Hector Corn Chaff Days Tournament is July 13th – 15th and the the Buffalo Lake Lions Tournament is July 19th – 21st.       The West Central Antique Power Collectors is having their annual Summer Show on June 22-23 at Blomkest, MN which is located at 1.5 miles east of Jct. US 71 and MN Hwy 7, 2682 195th Ave SE. It opens both days at 8am with free bingo from 1-3pm on Saturday or come and enter our raffle drawings at $2 each. Cash prizes of $1000, $500 and $250 along with a variety of prizes to be given away.Admission is $5.00, 15 and under are free. Food and cold drinks all day. Come and enjoy the fun!

      The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Cokato on Monday June 24th from 1-7pm at the First Baptist Church which is located at 395 Broadway Ave North in Cokato. This will be for all blood types.       The Senior Linkage Line, a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging, will have a specialist at the Hutchinson Event Center (1005 Highway 15 South) on Tuesday, June 25th, from 10:00 AM – noon. The specialist will assist seniors and answer questions about Medicare, Supplemental Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, prescription drugs and much more. The specialist will be at the Event Center the last Tuesday of each month. For more information, call the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800-333-2433.

      The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA) of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (500 Cedar Avenue East) in Hector invites you to its annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 26th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The meal will be served in the church’s Fellowship Hall and will include barbecues, turkey sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad and homemade pie and ice cream. A free will donation will be accepted. Take out meals will be available.

      The Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 126 (100 Astro Boulevard East) in Cosmos will host a Deployment Party for the National Guard Unit based in Litchfield. The event will be on Friday, June 28th, beginning with a chicken, fish and ribs buffet from 5:30 – 8:00 PM, followed by music provided by a DJ from 8:00 PM – midnight. The cost for the buffet is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Please call 320-877-7525 to confirm attendance.
